detroitsteel (209), Greater London, England Dec 21, 2006 (Cask in a pub). Very dark ruby in the glass, a thinish head that stayed half way down the glass. Malty and rich with a very dry hoppy after taste. Very drinkable, I had 2 pints. I would order it again.
duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Mar 16, 2007 Cask@Pigs Ear BF 06. Sweet and light, lightly sticky. Shows some light caramel sort of flavours and has a touch of earthy hops in the finish. A little bit dull and the flavour is quite short. oh6gdx (6334), Vaasa, Finland Mar 1, 2007 Casked. Dark murky ruby/brown colour, with a beige mediumsized head, which vanishes quite fast. Aroma has lots of dark fruit and chocolate in it. Also some acidic sourness sticking in the background. Flavourwise it’s sour fruity with some caramel and chocolate added. A very pleasant thing. harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Jan 31, 2007 Cask handpull at White Horse, Parson’s Green. Brown/red colour with disappearing beige head. Some yeastiness. Bit of good hoppy bite on end. Bit of yeast. Bit of gingery spice. JorisPPattyn (4500), Antwerpen, Belgium Jan 30, 2007 Cask B.C."H."; ruby brown, clear beer. A bit fruity (dark fruit, plums) touch of chocolate, ending on a very slight sourish impression in the background. Soft-sweet at first, but again finish is soft sourish, vaguely fruity. Fruitcream-filled pralines, with most of the filling taken out? Settles on more bitterness, however. Rather well-bodied, for such a low ABV beer. It’s not bad, nowhere, but somehow, I can’t get wild over it. Could do with some more malt punch. rsmeds (190), Turku, Finland Jan 24, 2007 Cask at Old Bank, Turku, Jan ’07.
Clear, dark ruby color, with a bubbly off-white head.
Sourish grassy and slightly chocolaty aroma, with a faint hint of skunkiness.
Sourish, fruity flavor of plum and cola, with a hint of chocolate. Sweetish sour aftertaste. No suggestion of roasted malt, strangely enough.
Very light carbonation, dry mouthfeel, medium body.
A bit bland, but OK real ale. But seriously, is this supposed to be a porter? Apart from the vague chocolatiness, I find absolutely nothing porterlike in this one.
