When I buy a beer like this I have this fleeting hope that it will take me back to the times I was getting drunk in Lago Atitlan and jumping off 11m cliffs. I hope it will bring back the taste of a taco gringa and grudgingly remind me of the endless bachata cds blasted on chicken buses ripping around the hillsides of the Guatemalan highlands. But unfortunately it only tastes like a shitty lager that would only go down well with a superior taste of Guatemalan food. And I don’t have any Guatemalan food.

Bottle Pours a clear dark golden color with a smallish white head. Nose has that sweetish skunky note that nearly every export lager has. Taste is largely like a baby peed cold piss into my mouth.

Sold as Famosa up here since Gallo is the name of an equally cheapo wine. Stewed, musty corn aroma. Light yellow like the big brand light lagers. Light bitter flavor, some corny sweetness. Had this a couple times at south of the border themed restaurants, where the fiery food kills whatever flavor this type of beer has. This is not as bad as I expected, although other tropical lagers are somewhat better.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 I laugh reading the commercial description...what is a characteristic body? fine bitterness? delicate aroma? This beer tastes awful cold, tolerable when hot and drunk.

Can enjoyed in Guatemala. Average light fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Clear light pale yellow color. Aroma of light grass, hint of malt, light dry. Light to thin bodied with an average carbonation. Light sweet and bitter flavor. Light dry and bitter finish.

Pours pale-gold. Taste is watery, carbonated with little taste other than a bitter aftertaste that lingers. Body is there but there is no taste to accompany it. Could be refreshing if served well chilled on a blazing hot day I suppose.

Despite pouring the beer into the middle of the glass, the thin head could not even cover the surface. The body is clear, light straw colored.
There is absolutely no aroma, which might be a good thing.
The taste is a little grain, metal and mild bitter at the end.
The texture is crisp with a high carbonation.
Not a good beer.

Horrible. That’s about the only description needed. Razor thin gold with no head or lacing. A weird semi-sweet aroma that is very faint. The taste is nonexistent - possibly a hint of sweet malt? Easily one of the worst, if not the worst beer I’ve ever had!!

Kinda like a modelo. Watery brew with somewhat unappealing finish. Really cold on super hot day.

This bee is perfectly adapted to latin-american market. Strong flavor, good bitter taste and well balance alcohol blend.
