pouring a desperately pale yellow, like an old manís fingernails, famosa exposed bespeaks a closer proximity to tinny tap water than serious brewing. dropping a kernel of corn into it would surely double itís intensity. if it were architecture, it would be a shack so poorly built that itís own head would cause it to collapse into splinters. it is aromatic, but not of pleasant things: this beer has that kind-of rubbery smell of well-chewed dog toys, plain lip-balm, lightly composting corn cobs and dank magazine paper. naturally, itís limited flavor would be entirely arrested by the addition of a lemon wedge, unsqueezed. but one must concede that the drink is certainly wet, and thatís a good thing when consumed under perfect conditions--like after being locked in a cargo container in the mojave desert for nine days. a flavor of white grape and lemon, plus some tinniness derived from the parsimonious use of industrial grade hop-concentrate. oh, and iím pretty sure that this was barrel aged. no, i donít mean in an oak barrel-- i mean a gun barrel. thanks to clyde for a fun, if somewhat punishing bottle.

250ml bottle brought back from Guatemala from Luis
Pours straw yellow, small white head, some lacing. Aroma of pale malts, straw and sweet cereal. Taste is sweet, bisquity, straw and grainy
It is what it is, not terrible. Now what do I do with the rest of the 6 pack.

Bottle in Antigua. Poured very pale yellow, not much head. Hot country lager, kind of bland, not excessively corny which was a pleasant surprise. But cold, wet and bland.

Can, thanks Vip-in-Velp! Grainy, vegetable-like flavors. Hint of metal. Soft herbal notes, also in the aroma. More flavors than expected, but not especially pleasant.

Old rating. Really bad, even for a cheap lager. Thin, wet grains, stale, weird acidic aftertaste. Guatemalan though.

bottle. Very pale gold and fizzy. grains and wet cardboard. Very light. Not even good by Latin American crappy pale lager standards.

Bottleshare at Leightonís flat. Thanks to Leighton for this rarity. As Famosa. Light haze on this very pale gold beer, bubbly white head. Palate is light and crisp. Very thin pale malts, trace of sweetness. Forensic amount of citrus and pine hop. Crisp dry finish. Fresh air beer!

Pours almost colorless - very pale yellow. Skunky nose. Starts with light grain and dry cider. Light bitterness. Watery, high carbonation, clean finish. Club soda-like.
