Bay Ale is a copper coloured, traditional ale with malt and hop aromas and a smooth and well-balanced flavour.
Hoppy, yet malt-forward this ale strikes a great balance. Using Northern Brewer, Bobek and Willamette hops alongside a strong malt backbone this beer is both for savoring and thirst-quenching, depending on your mood.
Speciality Malts - Brown, Crystal & Munich
Hops (33 IBU) - Northern Brewer, Bobek and Willamette(Note: Change of Hop from Perle to Northern Brewer)

Dogbrick (7973) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 28, 2012
Sample at Oslo in Galway. This beer pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and slight hops. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt and grassy hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. Slightly above average overall.

Scopey (6719) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 25, 2014
Bottle at Craig’s. It pours hazy deep red with minimal beige head. The nose is soft, fruity, jammy, red berry and sticky fruit syrup. The taste is sweet, red berry, jammy, light toast, grain and mild bitterness with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty drying. No depth. Very so-so.

500ml bottle, pours a large three finger head which leaves good lacing. Colur us cloudy red copper. Aroma is of red fruit, malt and hops. Taste is full bodied malty with nice hoppy balance and lingering taste. High carbonation and a full bodied feel. Reasonably good but wouldn’t drink too much

stravale (2075) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - MAY 11, 2014
Bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin [120414]
Copper amber, slight haze, frothy dense off white head, some lacing
Aroma - brown toasted malts, slight red berry fruits
Taste of toasted malts, some caramel malts, dab of bitter zest hops under the brown malts, slight hint of berry fruits, some brown bread crust, bit earthy, brown leaves
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body, soft mouthfeel, soft sweet malts, fairly bitter. Finish is more bitter, toasted malt and bitter spicy hop linger
Overall - A standard bitter ale, the least impressive of the Galway Bay beers I’ve tried. Not too bad.

Not the best style out there for a hop head like myself. I normally am not a fan, but this is really nice. Pours a deep mahogany into the tulip glass, medium off white head that dissipates in time, almost no lacing on the glass. Bread, marmalade, hay, some hop resin the in the aroma, taste is similar, but the mouthfeel and finish are both nice and smooth, where most Red or Irish ales can get cloying and over-sweet. Really nice interpretation of the style.

Bottle at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, from Callans Dundalk, 23/01/14. Hazed amber with a moderately appointed light beige covering. Nose is bitter fruit, light caramel, faint hops, blood orange. Taste comprises caramel, fruit tang, bitter orange, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying closure. Very so so.

Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Ta Colin. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild carbonation. Minerals. Light paper. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Mild malty linger. Not too bad.

Pours cloudy deep red with white head. Sweet biscuit nose with toast and hints of smoke. High concentratd carbonation that hits on initial sip. Earthy taste with toffee malts and nice bitter finish, some nuts and a smoky aftertaste. Looks the part and is a good beer.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2014 Ruby red pour, medium dissipating head. Malt, caramel, bread, slight berry, leaves. Dry, hoppy and medium bodied. Medium soft carbonation. Overall not bad. Could be a lot better. 5am Saint is a great example of this style.
