On tap at the Salthouse in Galway. Hazy dark brown with ruby tint and small creamy beige head. Aroma is roast, toast, dark fruit yeast, med sweet. Flavor is roast and toast again with a little bit more yeastiness, nutty, sweet. Syrupy medium body. Out of style but not bad.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BeerCast_Rich (1202) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 23, 2010
[on tap at Porterhouse, Covent Garden]. Dark porterish looks, it pours highly carbonated with a rapidly dispersing head. This dissipates very quickly to leave rising bubbles. Very roasty but not at all thick or chewy, slight sweet fruit at first but then malt takes over in the aftertaste. Pretty refreshing stuff after a hot day pounding around Covent Garden markets, but as a dunkelweizen it’s fairly down the line. [28032010]
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - SEP 19, 2009
Draft at Oslo in Galway (and sampled at the brewery). Quite dark, even black, with a steady tan top. The aroma is yeasty, almost bubble-gummy. There’s a chewy consistency to this and an almost smoky aspect, but in the end it’s a sweet, bready thing. Quite good. (#3661, 9/10/2009)
