COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an exciting new style of beer that we call Irish Pale Ale. This delicious beer is pale in colour, has a full well balanced hop flavour and aroma, a good foamy head, a carbonation level similar to standard lagers. Now you can, of course, make it as complicated as you like by adding various chemicals and preservatives to the beer so that it ferments and matures faster, has a longer shelf life and is cheaper to produce. However, as a small independent craft brewery, we believe in using traditional techniques and think that only the four basic ingredients of beer should be used to produce this wonderful, thirst quenching, “magic potion”. All we want to do is produce a pure and natural beer for the Galway market. Nothing more.

500ml bottle at The Gateway. Pours a clear copper with a thin, lasting white bubbly head. Little lacking on aroma, but I got hints of citrus, grass, and a bizarre wet cardboard. Moderately sweet and lightly bittered, lacking the bite of most Pale Ales. Reasonably lively carbonation but still quite smooth. Medium body with a light bitter palate. Ok, but a bit malty and plain.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2009 Very hoppy and quite fruity. Had a bitter finish. Still I just didn’t enjoy the taste of this beer. Wouldn’t get it again. Or rather I wouldn’t pay for it again.

On tap at Monroe’s in Galway. Pours a great American golden amber. A nice break from the monotonous but traditional pints of Guinness and Murphy’s in the pubs. Nice hop character and clean crisp finish.

500ml Bottle. Pours a amber gold body capped with a medium but moderately lasting white head. Aroma is faint and unimpressive in strength but nice on the nose. Faint citrus notes come through a maly biscuity base. Taste is grapefruit, hops, caramel and malt giving way to a dry but not lasting crisp finish. Not what I would call an American Pale Ale (and to be fair they dont call it that either) but a lovely crisp beer. Not a top 10 but nice enough/

Pours a golden color with small head. A pleasing aroma of caramel and hops. Taste is very bitter hops with no other balancing flavors or mouthfeel.

Had it at the Bull & Castle Gastro Pub, Dublin. This pale ale with nice malty tones really does have something to contribute to the pale ale constellation. It’s a brand new brewery, only around since the summer of 2006. I expect great things from them.

Keg from Tigh Neachtain’s, Galway. Clear golden colour with white head. High level of carbonation. Good hoppy flavour. Refreshing pint

4.3%, 500 ml bottle. Pours orangey yellow with limited white head, although it is clear which is odd for a pale ale. Balanced with citrus fruit tones and mild citrus aroma. Malt and hops are dominant flavours. A tasty Irish pale ale, will definitely have it again

Unfortunately there are few enough really good Irish brews. This is one of them and unusually it isn’t a stout. Quite low in alcohol with lots of (American? Cascade?) hop biterness this is a real treat.

nice amber look. strong fruity smell. a high fizz which helps mix the different flavors of hops, citrus fruit and straw. innitially a bit sweet but finishes with a solid bitter taste giving it a kick.
