On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown to black with a medium sized tan head. Big coffee and roast on the nose, chocolate and cocoa. Nice chocolate, medium-bodied, a bit of cocoa and roast, thins out a bit. Long bitterness and roast into the finish. Nice enough.

On nitro tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thick brown nitro head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt, Parmesan cheese, lots of chocolate malt. Slightly acidic and a bit bland, though smooth and drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2014 On nitro. Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with an enormous fluffy dark brown head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was roasty and toasty with notes of cocoa, port wine and wood. The flavor was roasty chocolate, raspberry, port wine, wood, burnt toast, malted milk and vanilla. Nicely complex and washing over the tongue in waves. Very long finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Very nice!

Draft. Pours deep, dark brown with average, frothy tan head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, toffee, earthy hops, and dark fruit. Flavor is heavy roasted malt, average earthy hops, average dark fruit esters, and light smoke; well balanced with a dry coffee finish. Medium body and carbonation with low warmth.

Tap. Pours black with a medium, fizzy tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is peat, prunes, smoke, leather, roast and coffee malt, and woody hops. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters, smoke, peat and a dry finish. Light body and warmth with medium carbonation.
