Several half liters on a warm summer night at Eckerts in Bamberg. Hazy pale golden with a lasting white head. Extremely inviting, clean malty aroma with grain/cereal character, and herbal hops with a citrus note. Sweetish crisp and clean flavour, light on the malt, leaving plenty of room for the beautiful hop character to unfold. Herbal continental hops, used so plentiful that it brings out a little citrus character. It’s hard to imagine a better pilsner than this...

Tasted at the brewery with Andreas. Hazy yellow appearance with a very nice white head. Super yeasty, delicious lemon, light tangy, bready pils malty aroma. Tangy lemon, cracker, rich bready yeasty flavor. Another delicious brew here.

Cask @ Akkurat. Great stuff! Its quite hoppy actually - in a flowery, citrusy kind of way. The malt has the character of a light sweet bread. Crisp. The aftertaste is bitter, somewhat metallic, Quite smooth.

On tap at Eckerts. Pale, slightly hazy gold pour with a persistent bubbly white head. Aroma is grassy, really herbal with notes of thyme and rosemary, light hay, bready. Taste is smooth, light malty sweetness, very subtle grassy bitter finish. Very easy drinking beer, pretty masterful indeed.

My Bottom Line:
Vibrant grassy noble hops protrude from the pils malt haystack promoting compelling bitterness and meticulous sweetness for an überquenching Zwickelbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam decorates the hazy blond.
-This is balanced, flavorful and ever-so-drinkable. I want to go back to Franconia so bad!!
-The mouthfeel was light and soft, yet never frail.
-Some honeyed sweetness was also found, as well as faint banana esters.
-This one was able to stand shoulder to shoulder quality-wise with Birrificio Italiano’s remarkable Tipopils. I even had to order a second pint of each just to make sure. ;)

On tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà, Rome.

Cloudy and pale. Big head. Very yeasty aroma with light fruity hop. Spicy hop accents, lots of yeast and bready character. Good, fun...a little bit doughy note from the yeast.
