Short notes from a zwickel tank pour at Gänstaller Bräu. I tried the first batch from bottle about a year after it was made, and decided not to review it since it was noticeably faded and oxidized. So here is batch number two, fully finished and fresh from the tank. Lightly hazed golden amber with a permanent white head. Powerful herbal aroma is medicinal, woody, perfume-like, licorice, earthy, honey-ish. Rich, sticky and sweet, nearly cloying, lightly astringent and bitter with a lingering tingle on the tongue. Very non-traditional and a weird one even for Gänstaller.
