3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Allen (2469) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 22, 2012
Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of jaghana. Clear deep amber with a small light beige head. An icelandic moss-like is rather present on the nose- reminiscent of Weltenburger asam bock. Extremely drinkable. Malt accented with spicy hops, raisins and caramel. Good but far from being great to my tastes. Thanks a lot jaghana!

Bottle from Jaghana, thanks!. Dark brown color. Caramel and sherry notes in the aroma. Malty sweet, bready flavor with sherry notes. Very low on carbon. Seems oxidated, but really is quite delicious.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mutz (126) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 14, 2012
Donker amberkleur, ruikt naar mout. De kraag krimpt snel tot een randje schuim langs de rand van het glas. Smaakt erg moutig en droogzoet, niet echt veel nasmaak. Medium body. Goed te drinken.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaghana (2103) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - FEB 4, 2012
Bottle 50cl, a clear dark-amber beer with medium amber head. Nose is very malty and caramel like. Aroma is very toasted and caramel like, low burnt notes, some over-riped apple notes, nice but less complex as expected.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Holy (701) - GERMANY - OCT 11, 2011
Enjoyed this one on tap in Frieburg. Nice, easy double bock - nothing of note, just solid.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MartinT (6350) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2011
My Bottom Line :
Caramel, licorice and prunes dip into red fruit in this classy, silky Doppelbock.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam decorates the bloody burgundy.
-While the aroma is quite evocative, the flavor profile does not delve into the typical residual sugars the style often uses to display such perfumes. This is obviously not dry, but it is beautifully velvety and drinkable for a Doppelbock.
-I love the fact they’ve got this year-round on tap at their restaurant.
-The yeast profile and grain bill are perfectly harmonious. This is a very impressive brew…
On tap at Ganter Brauereiausschank, in Freiburg im Breisgau.

Bottled(500ml). -Reddish/pale brown coloured, creamy pale beige head, vinous roasty nose with notes of dates. Roasted malty, fruits, dried fruits and chocolate taste with notes of molasses. Alcohol is subdued, a bit too sugary finish but all in all very good dopplebock.
