COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those of you who donít know Aro there is a light side and a dark side to the valley. For those of us on the dark side of the street itís been a long dark winter. But salvation is nigh. The coming of Spring has brought the first teasing hints that the sun might come again to the Garage.

Pretty happy with this all season stout. Getting malty, liquorice, coffee flavours. Appearance good, super dark with glittery head. All round a good stout, pricey beer for just over the pond. $20. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A 330ml can with a best before date of 10th August 2016 and poured into a Moonzen teku glass. It poured a pitch black colour with a big almost three finger dark tan head that stuck around for a while and left nice streaky lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, light char and bittersweet chocolate. Taste starts with a light roast, coffee and light char followed by a bitter espresso and citric finish. Light to medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Overall, this was good with nice coffee flavours mixed in with some smoky char and a bitter fruit finish. Light enough to be a stout for all seasons.

Nitro version. Coffee in aroma. Freshly brewed but cold. Strange effect. A bit of iron too. Dark brown color, almost black, with brown reflects. Itís nitro, so obviously looks perfect. In mouth is quite full. But was hoping for more flavors. Itís just pure coffee with no counter. Pleasant, smooth, drinkable. Itís good but was expecting more.

Black with a medium beige head. Nose is roasted malts, berries and coffee. Taste is a very classic and perfect stout: coffee, dark malts, smoke, caramel, some vanilla and a bitter finish. Solid.

Iím not a big stout fan, but this is a cracker. Simple and perfectly executed without trying to cram a rainbow of flavours in. Coffee, smoke and then more coffee. Ashtray is actually a decent deScription, but in a nostalgic way, remembering those smokey parties back in the day

Drank with Matt and Christian before lunch with Chingyi. Dark brown-black, beige head with thick bubbles. Smells of roasted malt, bitter coffee, chocolate, faint smokiness, moderate hop. Taste is similar - moderate to heavy burnt malt balanced by significant bitterness, with a more citric finish. Body is light. Not bad, fairly heavy burnt/roast flavour but complemented with some sweetness and bitterness. Body could be thicker.

Can from Bottle Shop at home before Malaysia. Light black/brown pour with white/tan fluffy frog eyed head. Aroma is roasted malt and wet coffee and hops. Not bad. Taste follows. Quite bitter - both coffee and some slight fruit hops. Lasting wet (sour?) bitter finish. Nice. Light palate.

Had this poured from a 12oz can in hotel room in Hong Kong last night for New Year's Eve. Was hammered and barely remember it - but I think I liked it. Helpful rating here.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Cola black with a touch of deepest brown in the shallows. Tannish tight foam holds for the length and laces well. Twiggy charred bark, burnt and bitter spent coffee beans, damp swamp weeds and topsoil on the nose. Down and out dry Stout on the palate. Chalky, pasty, relatively smooth with a light spritz up front. Medium light bodied. A lot of íburntí going on. Charred wood, burnt sugar and heavily roasted coffee bean make it a bitter ale. Too much edge without balance or harmony. Very dry, mildly astringent and drawing on the saliva glands. A little too harsh for a second glass. Didnít enjoy this one. Can from Beer Cartel 151215. This beer is as black as midnight with an aroma of licorice and vanilla. Full flavoured with a long strong finish that fills the mouth with a smooth creamy velvetness.
