COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This has been one of the most challenging Garage brews to date. At its heart was the idea of combining aggressive, high citrus character of American hops with the heat and sweetness of Indochine flavours. Have you ever tried a Vietnamese mango and chili salad? If you havenít you should. It could be life changing. Itís an idea that has been rattling around the Garage consciousness for a while and the Great Australasian Beer Spectapular seemed like a fitting opportunity to give it an outing. It was always going to be a challenging brew to pull off Ė mango, chili, Vietnamese mint and lime juice arenít exactly conventional ingredients. Donít bother checking, they arenít listed in the Reinheitsgebot. Add a lavish addition of Chinook, Centennial, Citra and Amarillo hops, a deadline launch for an international beer festival and take it straight to a 2000 litre batch without any chance for small scale testing and you get what could have been a recipe for spectacular, monumental disaster. The idea of trying to bring all these flavours together in a coherent way given the pressure of time and prospect of public humiliation was, frankly, shit scary.

Bottle. Itís a unclear dark orange-golden body under a finger-thick off-white head leaving some curtains. The aroma is quite malty, with a little caramel. Resins, pine cones, green chili and some grass too. After reading the label I realize I should have recognized the scent of mint. Itís lightly warming on the palate, full-bodied, and with a nice carbonation level. Semi-sweet. A nice touch of green chilies, a solid dose of pine cones and resins, with a good bitterness. A nice maltyness too, with some toffee. Lasting finish with bitterness, some chili warmth and a decent malty touch. Love the chili in this one, and itís sure nice anyway. Will definitely buy more bottles of it. 140730

Bottle from the source. Hazy amber color, white head. Aroma of dank and sweaty hops and plants. Taste is very bitter grass and pine resin. Would like to see it better balanced, but I get the point.
