COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Wow. A rather different beer. I think it’s the Nelson hops that dominate, but whatever it is, this is absolutely pungent on the nose - a unfamiliar, damp and tropical scent - and that carries right through into the taste. Combined with the traditional attributes of a strong IPA it makes for a cracking drink, well worth a try.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a smallish off-white head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves a little lacing. Typically Nelson Sauvin notes of kiwifruit and mango mix with grapefruit and a little caramel malt to create the aroma. Powerful grapefruit and kiwifruit hops up front soften into mango leading into a caramel malt mid-palate. Razor sharp tropical fruit hops finish it off. An enjoyably hoppy and bitter IIPA, with plenty of good Nelson Sauvin character.
