The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

330ml can. Hazy gold orange color, bubbly white head that laces quite a bit. Aroma is very floral, tangerines, resin. Grapefruit, pine, tangerines, bit hop flavor. Both bitter and juicy sweet. Medium body. Quite good.

Aroma of spice and hops and a hint of grape. Pours a great looking clear gold color with a lasting white well laced head. A funky mineral taste with a hint of salt, resin and hops. A medium body with an unpleasant salty mineral finish.

poured from can. golden colour with a medium head. hop and citrus aroma. kind of a strange smokey, woody taste with mineral feel throughout. Lingering bitter hop finish. Very interesting, very strange, not a huge fan.

So beautiful aroma. Full of Nelson Sauvin hops. Oil, white wine, grapes. Similar in taste. Has also almost notes like passionfruit and sulfur. Medium body, pleasant to drink but definitely not a session one. Long hoppy aftertaste with a bit of bitterness. Good beer, probably the best I had from garage project.

From can. Poured hazy orange with limited lasting head. Plenty of hop flavor with grapefruit and sauvignon prominent plus garage project usual high sulfate to chloride ratio apparent in the taste. Medium lingering bitterness. Not a session beer! Fair

Golden-orange, medium white head. Strong aroma of mango, peach and grapefruit. Taste adds pineapple, pine, malt. Then the hops explosion. Very well balanced and very testy, smooth, creamy. Masterpiece!

A 330ml can with a best before date of 8th March 2016 and poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It poured a slightly hazy golden orange with a two finger off white head that dissipated fairly quickly leaving some nice lacing. Aromas were of strong tropical fruity mango and pineapple with pine, grapefruit and grassy notes. Taste was bitter citrus grapefruit, pine and grass with some light malt sweetness. However, at times, the alcohol booze seemed to creep out. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, this was a pretty good DIPA, but as a DIPA, I’d prefer if it was able to completely hide the alcohol taste, but other than that, it was nice and bitter.

Hazy, sunburned orange with a good sized slightly off white head. Aroma is very grassy, with pine, oily hop and mango noted. Resinous hops, pine, grass, grapefruit and citrus flavours, the bitterness just keep growing. Really dense mouthfeel, thick bodied and well carbonated. It’s oily, resinous and almost chewy. Awesome.
