The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Great use of hops. Floral with strong piney aroma. Lot of grapefruit and even mango. Orange peel midway through. Great mouthfeel and finish that warrants another sip. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A gorgeous beer from New Zealand! I bitter change my E’s with I’s! Lovely floral aroma, good hop strength with some toffee and citrus. A little bit sweeter than I would have thought, but the bitterness more than makes up for it.

Bottle at home. Has a cloudy orange colour with a medium, soapy, light beige head. Lots of hops in the aroma that alomst feels spicy. In addtion there’s a sweet tone with grass, flowers, tropical fruit, grapefruit and some diacetyl. The flavour is very fruity with grassy hops, apricot and some alcohol and citrus. Slick and rich mouth feel, and has a medium bitterness. A tasteful and aromatic DIPA with some diacetyl.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Pours light hazy deep golden with a 1" creamy white head. Aroma of hoppy marmelade, resins and spruce. Taste is moderate bitter, pine and herbal hops, light sweet marmelade, some citrus as well, well balanced in my book, and a real pleasure to drink.
