The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500ís led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a ďwicked and pernicious weedĒ, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Hereís hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Bottle. Clear gold with a white head. Resinous tropical fruit aroma - passionfruit, lychees, gooseberries, lime leaf. Really didnít get any grapefruit. Lowish carbonation works for me. Sweetish but without caramel, avoids being fruit salad-y. Strong bitterness and pepper emerge from the fruit. A hell of a lot of fun.

Aroma is no shrinking violet. It unsubtly screams citrus, passionfruit, (is it maybe over ripe apricots as well?) and resin. Gorgeous. Itís a very dynamic aroma: in the background the apricot rolls into a yeasty bread cooking in the oven smell which then rolls into some kind of roast nut... but thereís no way Iím gonna spend my time sniffiní this; itís screaming "Drink me, bi-yatch!" So I drink. Hugely bitter but immediately balanced with the sweet tastes of the aroma. Simple straightforward IPA, unpretentious, and very drinkable.

Very good, but very basic IPA. Itís strong, and itís incredibly drinkable in comparison to other heavy hitting IPAís of itís stature. All in all, it hangs with the best of them, but doesnít take any of the risks that G.P. generally offers.

Hazy tan, mango, papaya, guava, great fruit aroma...hell even maracuya in there. Very bitter, aggressive, dry, fruity-accented hop. Dang tasty.

Looks nice and peachy. Aroma is fruit and hops. Taste is oily with hops and resin in tow. Lingering bitterness. Overall, a good IPA.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2014 An excellent beer for those who like hops and one of my favourites of any style. Only wish it were more frequently available (and I was able to have more than a couple without feeling wobbly).

Pint on tap. Poursa nice hazy orange amber with a nice head. Smell is apple and citrusy hops with some nut malts. Taste is super hoppy, bitter with a round creamy mouthfeel.

Pours cloudy, almost peachy in colour; something like a fruity cocktail. Bizarre, but raise the glass and lots of resin, grapefruit and bright bouncy citrus hop floats up. Itís big, round and surprisingly sweet in the mouth - again, thereís something very surprisingly sweet about this drink, the way it looks, it tastes and the way it feels. Itís like a bright bitter citrusy fruit cocktail. And thatís not a bad thing for a beer.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2013 Draught: Pours quite a murky golden colour and has a big sweet tropical hop hit on the nose. Pineapple and feijoa on the palate which has good length. Bottle rerate: This thing is bone dry with a great nose and not as syrupy as I got from the taps. Sadly this beer is not widely available as it has the potential to be one of the best beers in the country.

Rigger from Regional wines. Pours a hazy golden colour, with a big fluffy white head. Huge lemon zest pine hops on the nose. Medium, softly carbonated body. Grapefruit bitterness and lovely finish. A joy.
