The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Medium konsistens, fin bitter ettersmak.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Copper hazy, frothy beige head. Smell of tropical fruits, grapefruit, citrus zests, herbs and wood. After a while i also find hints of white wine and grapes. Medium sweet, grapefruit, quite tropical, nice spices and herbs. Heavy bitter, resins and grapefruit. A very nice DIPA, Nelson is a very nice hop!

Pint at Galbraiths. Pours golden without much head. Aroma is sweet, honey and floral hops with hints of pineapple and toffee. Smokey initially, taste is of passionfruit, pineapple, medium roasted malts with a strong bitter, grassy, citrus aftertaste. On the whole a very well balanced dry beer.

Pours clear golden with a shall white head. Earthy and tropical fruity aroma with excellent balance. Some pineapple and citrus with cut grass. Taste is sweet tropical fruits and boldly hop dominated, but somehow complimented nicely by the malt backbone. The abv is hidden well. I would have again

Rigger from bottle store. The aroma sprung out upon pouring. Big aroma; stinking of hops. Taste is balanced though and the alcohol common in the imperial space is well hidden by these big hops I mentioned earlier. In terms of a big hops beer, this is is satisfying.

From the bottle. A hazy golden orange with a smallish white head. Aroma is an intriguing mix of earthy herbal and tropical fruits. Dirty pineapple. Flavour is sweet grapefruit, pineapple, herbal, slightly spicy hops, a bitter finish but not overly so. Rather dry. A fine and unique DIPA.

Big offwhite head. Clear yellow body with carbonation. Resiny grassy pineapple aroma with spicy wooden notes. Dry-sweet peachy wine grape taste with spicy wooden grassy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish mealy citric resiny aftertaste with gooseberry and wood notes. Nice, drinkable, and full of flavour. (0.65l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)
