The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Pours clear amber with two fingers of off-white head. Aroma of citrus, light grapefruit, pine and peach. Taste is resinous bitter with light fruit sweet before a mellow bitter finish. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.

650ml brown with cool retro style hop-monster artwork, bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is opaque dark orange colored with a medium sized beige head, that quickly reduced leaving some lacing behind. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, pine and resin. Flavours of grapefruit, pineapple, caramel, orange peels and bread. Taste is light-medium sweet and medium-heavy bitter. Palate is full bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Garage Project Pernicious Weed has and sharp hopped bitterness and solid malt backbone, an excellent beer with a lovable label.

650ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Small creamy tan head. Hazy dark orange body. Aroma is tropical fruits, orange marmalade, caramel malt and piny hops. Slightly yeasty. Mostly bitter on the tongue. A little sett. Very well balanced.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy deep orange golden, mid sized head. Caramelly nose with light notes of pears. Sweet and fruity with medium-full body and rounded, somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. Mostly caramel and syrup. Some ink and saccharine in the finish. Hops are hopelessly lost in a sea of sticky caramel.

I like! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

@ Basunen 15-4-17: ganska trevlig humledoft. Inga större frukttoner men heller lite gräsig. Lagom frisk men absolut ingen stor ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Packed full of hops; really bitter. Good, but would probably benefit from having a bit more malt in the base.

A beatiful, a little bit hazy, orange-golden colored beer with a huge, three finger high head. A lot of lacing stays on the glass when the fluffy head finally sinks down to a 5 mm thick "whipped cream" style head.

I just love the nose! Tropical fruit, mango, orange marmelade, hops, grass, grapefruit, caramel malt, herbs and pine.
Taste: Orange, tropical fruit, earthy, grapefruit, a soft, creamy taste. A very balanced bitterness. The ABV of 8% is well hidden. You get a little alcohol taste but not to much.
Body: Medium body and medium carbonation. A soft, creamy body with great texture. Malty backbone.

Maybe you have guessed it by now: I LOVE this DIPA! Nothing overwhelming - Just right! So good, creamy, hoppy and... just lovely!

Flaska 650 ml systembolaget. Lätt disig orange vätska. Bra humletryck i doften.

Another killer IPA from Garage Project. This stuff really needs to make it over to the US. Perfect aroma and taste, big but tempered hop aroma and flavor, cloudy orange gold body with creamy head. Essence of pine resin lingers with a hint of grapefruit. Top notch.
