The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

65 cl systembolaget. Riktigt trevlig öl som både Doftar och smakar citrus, grapefrukt och passionsfrukt. Mycket mild i beskan. En öl att dricka om och om.

Look; deep off white fruity head, hazy apricotish golden body. Aroma; forest, berry peels, citric juice, wood, gooseberries, grass, leafy hops. Taste; roasted malts, leafy hops, grapefruit, resin, juicy resin, bitter earth. Feel; good body, nice carbonation, fruity. Finish; fruit peel, juicy resin. Lingering, fading, and leaving a nice impression. Overall; unpernicious premium project. [65cl brown bottle, abv8%, BB01/07/15, B@Vinmonopolet]

Bottle @ home. Light amber liquid and a medium sized white head. Intensively piney aroma with mango, oranges, fresh cut flowers(!), backing sweet malt and caramel. Medium to big mouth feel with a resinous texture and aftertaste. Sweet taste with pine, pine apple, oranges and grapefruit. Balanced bitterness.

Aroma is sweet mango, thick pine-oils and a tad of alcohol. Taste is extremely bitter but with a fruity and sharp cloak of orange peels. Super tasty! And, it comes in a bomber. What’s more to ask for? Maybe another one?

Can, shared by Clayton at his home; 3rd May 2015. Orange colour. Deep. Some oxidising is happening. Soft tropical fruits. Big hops. Taste is oranges, mangos, huge fruits, super clean. Utterly epic. Hits the sweet spot for six and smashes it. New Zealand is brewing spectacularly well.

Copper colour, off-white head that leaves a bit of a lid. Big hop aroma filled with tropical fruits and pine with a malty backbone. The taste falls a bit flat in comparison, slightly sweat at first with a medium to heavy bitterness that ramps up towards finish and completely dominates the aftertaste and lingers for quite some time. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel.
