COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Pours cloudy, almost peachy in colour; something like a fruity cocktail. Bizarre, but raise the glass and lots of resin, grapefruit and bright bouncy citrus hop floats up. It’s big, round and surprisingly sweet in the mouth - again, there’s something very surprisingly sweet about this drink, the way it looks, it tastes and the way it feels. It’s like a bright bitter citrusy fruit cocktail. And that’s not a bad thing for a beer.

Draught @ Festival of Dankness, San Diego, CA. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small thick head. Aroma of strong pungent NZ hoppiness, white grapes and citrus. Flavour is very strong and rich with NZ hops, herbs, grapefruit, weed, mild sweetness and orange pith. Medium bodied. Very juicy and heavy. Nice showcase of pure NZ hops.

650ml bottle. A translucent orange beer with a firm collar of white head gat laces well. I get pungent white pepper, fresh juniper berries, orangey and grapefruit citrus on the nose. Taste is peppery and resinous dry with a substantial and lingering dry bitter aftertaste. Malt bill is quite subdued in this very hop forward beer which may be off-putting for some. Palate is medium-full and quite lively. Certainly shows off those NZ hops.

Pours nice orange, white foam. Aroma is fruity-hoppy, loads of mangos. Nelson is in action. Taste is also resinous, loads of tropical fruits, mangoes and piney bitterness. A lot of it. Great beer.

Bottle from Tanakaya shared at a tasting. Hazy copper with a nice soapy head. Aromas of ruby red grapefruit, peach and mango with some grassy and herbal notes as well. Taste is very similar to the nose with a hint of sweetness and nice lingering bitterness. Not overly sweet like some IIPAs. Very good.

Stort bemvitt huve! Grumlig, bärnstensfärg. Doft av kåda, Grapefruit & tallbarr. Mumsig smak av sötma från alkohol å malt blandad med en rejäl beska som balanseras in bra, toner av grapefrukt & kåda, besk fint eftersmak ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From Bottle Shop, drank after Galapagos Omnimax. Hazy orange-amber pour. Thin white fizzy head. Smells very nice. Jackfruit, peach, tropical fruit, apricot, dry soapy hop (detergent/cleaning product but not in a bad way), a bit minty, lightly spiced maple syrup malt, booze. Tastes of very dry resinous hop, dry frothy finish. Body is spicy, slick, medium, herbal bitterness. NZ fruity hop in the nose and West Coast dry resinous hop in the taste.
