COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Pours cloudy, almost peachy in colour; something like a fruity cocktail. Bizarre, but raise the glass and lots of resin, grapefruit and bright bouncy citrus hop floats up. It’s big, round and surprisingly sweet in the mouth - again, there’s something very surprisingly sweet about this drink, the way it looks, it tastes and the way it feels. It’s like a bright bitter citrusy fruit cocktail. And that’s not a bad thing for a beer.

Yes! Finally another goosebump-inducing beer, it’s been a few weeks since the last one! The aroma is intense and is a near-perfect mix of caramel malt and overripe tropical fruits. The flavour is also intense, and includes impressive amounts of peach, mango, orange, grapefruit, pine and sweet caramel. Light to moderate sweet taste and a heavy bitter long-lasting finish. Medium body, dry texture, moderate carbonation. Garage Project know how to make hoppy beers!

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 Flaska från SB.

(650ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours hazy medium orange with a moderate whitish head and lots of lace. Juicy nose of tangerine, white grapefruit and other citrus, grassy, gooseberry and kiwi from nelson sauvin?, moderate caramel sweetness. Flavour semi sweet clean pale malts, orange and grapefruit, kiwi, melon?, grassy, lightly herbal. Finish is moderately high bitterness, citrus pith, grassy and herbal, quite dry. Medium, slightly oily body with average carbonation. Not fresh but in surprisingly good shape for a NZ IPA in SB. I bet it would be awesomely juicy when freshly bottled.

65 cl systembolaget. Riktigt trevlig öl som både Doftar och smakar citrus, grapefrukt och passionsfrukt. Mycket mild i beskan. En öl att dricka om och om.

Look; deep off white fruity head, hazy apricotish golden body. Aroma; forest, berry peels, citric juice, wood, gooseberries, grass, leafy hops. Taste; roasted malts, leafy hops, grapefruit, resin, juicy resin, bitter earth. Feel; good body, nice carbonation, fruity. Finish; fruit peel, juicy resin. Lingering, fading, and leaving a nice impression. Overall; unpernicious premium project. [65cl brown bottle, abv8%, BB01/07/15, B@Vinmonopolet]

Bottle @ home. Light amber liquid and a medium sized white head. Intensively piney aroma with mango, oranges, fresh cut flowers(!), backing sweet malt and caramel. Medium to big mouth feel with a resinous texture and aftertaste. Sweet taste with pine, pine apple, oranges and grapefruit. Balanced bitterness.

Aroma is sweet mango, thick pine-oils and a tad of alcohol. Taste is extremely bitter but with a fruity and sharp cloak of orange peels. Super tasty! And, it comes in a bomber. What’s more to ask for? Maybe another one?
