The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2015 Lovely hoppy aroma that follows through into the taste of resin, floral, citrus. Strong head and good carbonation. Cloudy, with a strong finish. I kept coming back to sniff this and even snorted the empty can the next day. Yes, it came in a can.

Bottle. Pours a clear light amber body with a small white head. Nose is grass, tomato plant, cat pee, herbs, hay and hints of alcohol and manure. Taste is catty herbs, grass, herbs, tomato plant, alcohol and hints of caramel, red berries and melon. Medium body and carbonation. Way to catty for my taste, and way too old for its own good, but fair enough for what it is.

Citrus and floral notes bombard the senses only to have herbal hops sucker punch you in the back. Decent amount of caramel sweetness to boost the Abv. Has that dry hopped profile, too. Good.

Lots of hop aroma and flavor. Alcohol and a bit of malt in the flavor as well. Excellent.

Bottle. An unclear, dark golden beer topped by a dense, two-finger thick off-white head. Nice lacings. The aroma is herbal and christmas tree-ish, with orange peel and some pale malts tending towards toffee. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, with herbs, spruce notes, orange peel and some maltyness. Full body and a decent carbonation level. Lasting finish with too much herbal flavors. Except for that herbs, it’s sure a fine one. 140613

Bought from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. If you're after a big, bitter, thirst quenching IPA, this is what you need! Pours a hazy orange with a a finger of head. It has a quite complex aroma. Up front on the nose you get citrus, slight honey, syrup and a bit of spice and just heaps of others as it changes temperature. It has moderate carbonation with a medium body. Tastewise this is massively bitter! That's all I can really say! Loved this!!
