The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Bottle. Great hop bitterness and aroma. I tasted more of the riwaka than the NS hops. Sweet citrus and pineapple flavours that linger pleasantly. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy orange golden pour with a fine big white head. Citrus bomb in the aroma. Also tropical and herbal. Full to medium body and a smooth nice carbonation. Tad sweet and a rich bitterness. Balanced tropical fruity, grapefruit hoppy, pine and herbal flavor. Lovelt tasty and powerful dipa. Well masked alcohol.

650ml bottle. Hazy amber, thick fluffy white head. Wow, very hoppy and floral aroma, sweet scents of mango, marmalade, citrus and herbs. Fresh taste, a tropical fruit mix, much sweetness from fruits like mango and pineapple, also an earthy flavor and crisp tones of spicy herbs. Long lovely bitter aftertaste. Even if this bottle is large, I wish it was bigger.

Trevlig arom. Ganska stor. Väldigt krispig smak som nog kan göra sig utmärkt en sommardag. Lite platt intryck av smaken. Humlen var trevlig dock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

@ the train to Gothenburg 150425. Bottle (650 ml) from Systembolaget. Fruity, caramely and light hoppy, grapefruits, light alcoholic notes, medium body with a watery to oily texture. The finish is dry, bitter, fruity and caramely.

Grumlig, gyllene orange med ett orange skum. Doft: Exotisk frukt juice, söt citrus, malt. Är förkyld och känner dofter otroligt svagt. Smak: Grape, exotisk frukt juice, lite växt beska och övermogen persika, sockrat svart te, malt, lite nybakat bröd. God men på något sätt lite för mycket läsk över den.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hoppy smell with grape and pine. Similar taste. Sweet malty with a strong bitterness, some tea and wort. Nice hop aroma. Love the bitterness.

Celestial good scent of fruity and floral. Really well-hopped beer. The taste is really good. Fruity, floral but also an okay bitter taste. Good bitterness that fills the mouth forever. Had it every bit as sweet as it had been given top marks. But still a really good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Pours clear amber with two fingers of off-white head. Aroma of citrus, light grapefruit, pine and peach. Taste is resinous bitter with light fruit sweet before a mellow bitter finish. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.

650ml brown with cool retro style hop-monster artwork, bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is opaque dark orange colored with a medium sized beige head, that quickly reduced leaving some lacing behind. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, pine and resin. Flavours of grapefruit, pineapple, caramel, orange peels and bread. Taste is light-medium sweet and medium-heavy bitter. Palate is full bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Garage Project Pernicious Weed has and sharp hopped bitterness and solid malt backbone, an excellent beer with a lovable label.
