3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the FYO at Regional. Rich amber red, clingy pale brown head. There’s a lot of resiny hops wafting out of the beer, can’t really pick up any malt scent; but the colour indicates something interesting must be going on in there. In the mouth, though, it just explodes. Rich, sharp, orange-peel-and-spruce, a long lemony after taste, which seems to sharpen upwards as the flavour fades to an strong bitter tang. Very much a hop head ale, not as complex as they probably would’ve liked, but it has a roundness in the mouth that makes it a nice change from lighter, sharper IPAs.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Good one - more malty to my palate than Death From Above - therefore heavier bodied and thicker on the tongue - otherwise quite a similar overall taste profile - very very satisfying - big hops to balance the malt - like a West Coast of US brew.

Solid beer. Very well balanced and english style IPA. Well worth trying, unfortunately it is expensive for what it is.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a darkish amber with frothy off white head. Nose shows resinous hops, slight tropical hint and relatively heavy malt. Taste piney hops with a solid malt backbone delivering a creamy finish. Not your typical NZ ipa but still solid.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is very thick, sweet caramel straight from the bottle. After a swirl the hops manage to punch through with spicy earthiness. Quite lightly hopped compared to others, but not really lesser for it. Resinous, puckering finish gets noticeable halfway through the glass. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The head is ok, the body brown. It smells hoparomatic, malty, sweet, fruity. The taste is refshing, fruity, malty, hoppy, bitter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A very floral and soft on the palate IPA. I could see the non-hopped brigade liking this beer as it has character and the richness of the malts linger. A great GP beer it is certainly not, but still a beer that is well created and will recommend for people to try.

Cloudy/hazy dark orange/amber in colour with small white head. Big pine flavours, earthy pine aroma. Short hop bitterness with very dry end.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 Another fine beer from Garage Project that is a good example of the antipodean take on the style. Problem is - they do others that are better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: Passionfruit, honey, orange and earthy. Strongly aromatic, though more subtle than some NZ hoppy ales.
Flavor: Similar to the aroma. Gentle hop finish.
Comments: I was told that it used NZ Sauvin and Motueka hops.
