Venusian Pale Ale, a precocious little number using some of the more unusual local flora and fauna you find hanging around here in the less civilized parts of the solar system. Lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and grapefruit peel that we pinched from rations, meld seamlessly with Venusian Spear Fungus and that funny green stuff the local chappies seem to like licking off the rocks. Zesty is the word that springs to mind and at 7.3% abv itís bloody good for morale. Incidentally, it works just like napalm on the natives, which is handy.

Light on colour but lacking nothing in taste. Complex flavours eventually give way to a long, lingeringly luscious, bitter finish.

I enjoyed this a lot. Low in malt, great hops. Alcohol doesnít come through... dangerous! Not complex but very drinkable. Would have this again... and again!

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Not sure what the go is with this - whether or not itís fresh or just not that good in my opinion. Very marmaladey and peachy. A muddled palate which resembles what you would find in a cheap beer. Carbonation is very spritzy and doesnít help any transition with flavours. Not my kind of pale at all but I can see the approachability it has

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts well and leaves decent lacing. The grapefruit peel is particularyl noticeable in the aroma, with lemongrass and grainy malt supporting it. Grapefruit peel and lemongrass introduce it, providing zest and a touch of sweetness up front. Grainy cereal malt in the mid-palate is absolutely swamped by kaffir lime leaf, which is the dominant flavour through the finish. This is quite an unusual beer, to say the least. It does sort of work, although the kaffir lime leaf gives the finish a very odd feel, but the actual beer is not really a noticeable presence, merely a vehicle for the exotic ingredients.

Bottle from Slowbeer. Bright orange/amber, subtle hints of lemon, lime, grapefruit on top of a solid resiny bitterness. Quite light on the palate, bordering on watery compared to other APA/IPAs, but flavour and aroma more than makes up for it. An interesting and enjoyable beer.

Lovely beer. Good flavours, nice balance, and just that little different. One of the better GP beers.

Appearance is a very clear well carbonated light sparkly poor. Aroma comes across as ice cream soda but the flavor is wonderfully fresh new and best of all tasty. Subtle flavors of kaffir lime leaf and lemon grass come through but they just keep lingering it really is very awesome. It is like drinking a well made Asian broth but in beer form. Zesty, tasty and interesting. Not as in your face as I was expecting but well balanced and well made. I was trying to save this bottle to share with friends but succumb to the awesome art work and intriguing ingredients. Will just have to head out and pick up another.

Pours gold/amber with a fading head. Nose shows lemon myrtle confectionery noes, light sweet malt and lemon zest. Lemon myrtle is prominent as a flavour too along with the bitter grapefruit. The kaffir lime is faint. Quite herbal leading to an astringent bitterness. Carbonation seems a little full on. Needs more malt and less grapefruit.

Dear god, I love this beer. After many years of drinking heavy, syrupy and pungent IPAs from Northern California and Oregon... I move to Wellington to NZ to find this VPA. This beer impresses me in ways Iíve never believed possible. Silky smooth, easy drinking with a gorgeous citrus hoppy hint... yet full of shockingly subtle yet dynamic flavour. Move over Pliny, the VPA is my new favourite pint.

Pours a clean golden colour, which belies the flavour hidden inside. Has quite a bit of dry bitterness on the finish which I have to admit I was not a fan off. Reminded me of bitter oranges.
