COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Venusian Pale Ale, a precocious little number using some of the more unusual local flora and fauna you find hanging around here in the less civilized parts of the solar system. Lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and grapefruit peel that we pinched from rations, meld seamlessly with Venusian Spear Fungus and that funny green stuff the local chappies seem to like licking off the rocks. Zesty is the word that springs to mind and at 7.3% abv it’s bloody good for morale. Incidentally, it works just like napalm on the natives, which is handy.

Pours a crystal clear gold color with a bright white head. I get lots of alcohol in the nose. Not much else, honestly. Just a vague hop note. The flavor is much more complex. At first just alcohol, but quickly moving on to mint, star anise, and lemongrass. There is also something I can’t put my finger on. I assume it’s the kaffir lime leaves. No detectable character malts (as the color suggests). Quite bitter with some astringency. The body is on the light side and the bold flavors quickly fade into the Venusian mist.

(Bottle) Clear golden amber with good white head. Nice crisp citrusy aroma - grapefruit with pine notes and some sweeter floral or stone fruit hints. Medium body with good carbonation. Taste has lovely fresh citrus start and quickly develops hoppy bitterness that grows into a a sustained decently bitter finish. There are some biscuity malty undertones from the mid palate. A very decent pale ale.

Flaske 650ml delt med Rune og naboen på Nerstranda 4 Nov 11. Aprikosfarget. Uklar. Lavt skum. Aroma av dorens (ment positivt). Smaken er lavendel. Blir veldig ensformig.

Pours a cloudy golden with pillowy off white head. Nose is fresh citrus zest, lemongrass, kaffir lime, touch of straw. Flavor is similarly zesty. The lemongrass really comes through, lots of citrus, really floral and perfumed on the finish. Medium to heavy body, lowish carbonation, lingering lemongrass bitterness. This is genius, and would be an amazing complement to some spicy south east Asian food.

From a bottle. Pours clear orange with almost no head, some interesting flavours going on in here with the hint of lime and lemon but it works and I like it. Couldn’t drink it all day but it’s a very nice beer.

650ml bottle, 7.5 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet Vika. Shared with Finn and the neighbours next door. Slightly hazy, orange-gold coloued body. Stable off-white head. Fragile lacing. Herbal hops to the nose, rather perfumed. Taste of lavender and citrus laced with malty sweetness. Soft in the mouth. Unvaried. Drinkable, not a great one in my book (Tromsø 04.11.2014).

On tap at Scratch Bar 291014. This is a very good beet with great aroma. Quite a big hoppy flavour that fills the mouth. A good sipping beer.

Tap at five bar. Really solid pale, mild fruit and raisin aromas with a sweetness up front and a floral lingering taste in the background.

Classic pale ale colour - rich peach. Aroma is dank hops. Taste is citrus bite with way too much lingering tang. Overall not my sort of hopsy beer.
