COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This crisp, dry Irish-style stout is typical of those made in England and Ireland. Ours contains hints of chocolate and coffee as a result of the fermentation process.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2007 Cask@GBBF07. Whiskey aroma with laurel and chocolate. Black color, light brown head, fair lace. Very sweet, whiskey, hint of coffee, light roasted. Sticky and sugary. Kind of a love/hate beer. I decided to average that in the rating. Note: somehow I rated this beer twice at the GBBF but ratings were luckily the same.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at GBBF. Black with a tan head. Reasonably pleasant nutty and creamy nose. Flavour along the same lines but very dusty and some rather sickly berries. Nothing too special but I have a feeling this wasn’t on top form.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2007. Actually quite a nice porter, it’s got plenty of choc, a little thin in mouth maybe. OK whisky type malt. Odd, Fine, Interesting.

Comments: Well fruited, roasted stout that could use more aroma.

Third pint. Jet black body with nice brown bubbles on the surface. Roasted aroma. Hints of smoked, dark malts in taste. Watered palate and thin in the mouth (gravicask at GBBF, 05.08.2008).

Sample at the Brew Pub. Pitch black with no head. Nose is light roasted malt. Taste is normal for the style. Hints of chocolate, notes of coffee, bitter chocolate finish. Thin body that the style represents. Close to any other Dry stout.
