Slops out murky ruby with no head. Enticing aroma despite that; black bread dipped in coke, muscovado, red wine, Twiglets. Sticky and deep like a dubbel with spices added (cinnamon, grains of paradise), lactic notes. Still and strange with an appealing edge of acidity, dark spices, finishing wisps of smoke, milk choc digestives. Some malt loaf in there. Acidic enough for Keith to insist on the barrel being changed. Serendipitous, wrong, brilliantly flawed, badly conditioned. Whatever. A very generous 827212.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2011 (Bottled) A 6 % Mild Ale that is treacly and bombastic...notes of nutty sweet ass malts raisin , almonds ,coconut and toffee ..pretty obese
headless deep ruby....
Acidic and tart upfront on my palate , very syrupy and boozy..it feels a lot more alcoholic than 6%... a sipper .

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is vinegar. Taste is the same, vinegar throughout. Palate, it’s like drinking water. This is the second bottled Gargoyle beer that has been shit. Problems at the brewery/bottling line, I think.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Chestnut color. Thin topping. Strange. Sweet, rosehip notes, some buttery berry err. Sweet for the most part with odd aftertaste of feint mint, orange and paper. Does it taste the strength? Yes, a bit. Too much? Too unregulated? Maybe. Not sure about this.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Banbury BF 2011. A dark brown to ruby coloured beer with a few tan coloured bubbles. A sweet aroma with a touch of acidity. Fruity in the mouth wth raisins and bready malts. A bit of banana for good measure. Pretty good.

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’11. Chestnut with off white head. Heavy, really sweet beer with a heavy alcohol presence, somewhat unrefined, fruity, tart and over the top. A slight linctus taste in the close. Not off, just not to my taste.
