Bottle 330ml.

Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity, wood, light to moderate smoke. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, smoke, pale malt, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130222]

Misty light brown body with stable beige lace. Mild yet present bamberg like smoked aroma, wood, farmhouse yeast, nutmeg and bay leaves. Active carbonation reduces drinkability a bit. Actually quite bitter in the core, with smoked notes and fig like sweetness playing a second role. Full mouth feel in the aftertaste. Much more rounded off than expected. Quality brew albeit too bitter in the base as that reduced the well balanced smoke character a bit. Tasty for sure and very happy to see this coming out of France. (33cl bottle from Bière Révolution)

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris
Hazy golden color. The aroma of smoke if very mild, with some malt and cereals too, delicate. Smooth mouthfeel; good malt flavor with more pronounced smokiness; very moderate residual sweetness; quite strong bitterness for the style, but not over the line.
Balanced and elegant, very well brewed; delicious.

Bottle 33cl a dark beer with low head. Nose is hopy like and smoked. Aroma is on dry smoked malt, with dark chocolate body, good german smoked body, finish is on dry bitterness something like columbus profile. Good beer, not too complex, hoppy bitterness side is a bit strong for a dry smoked one, but nice in the French paysage !

Hazy dark amber. Spicy malty nose. A bit chewy. Nutmeg, grain, prunes, ashes. A bit soapy.

OleR (4597) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 25, 2010
Bottle shared by KnutAlbert. Fluffy, egg-shell colored head. Dark orange-brown body with good clarity. Toasted, ash-scented dark malts up front, followed by some stale, cheesy hops and a quite pleasant sourness of cellar and mould. Medium malt body, light toasted and spice-accented. Notes of a berry-ish fruitiness and earthy and herbal hops. Slick, almost soapy in the mouth. Healthy body. Dryish, spiced malty finish. Unusual, but a tasty and very interesting brew.

Kestral (506) - Årnes, NORWAY - FEB 11, 2010
Bottle shared by KnutAlbert. Thanks! Pours a hazy reddish brown with a big, creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, a slight sour burntness, and some cheese like moldy funk. A sip reveals more notes, some smoke, some spices, a bit soapy. Medium bodied, with loads and loads of tiny bubbles with a powdery ashy feel. A bit odd, but not bad.

Big pale beige head. Hazy dark red body. Fruity herbal cheesy aroma with lacquer and wood notes. Sweetish smoky ashy herbal taste with roasty caramel notes. Mid-bodied. Mealy soapy mouthfeel. Dry-acidic burnt smoky spicy nutmeg aftertaste. Quite interesting, but not very successful. (0.33l bottle shared by KnutAlbert.)

Reddish amber. Big head. Smokey aroma with spice and fish. THin. Relatively smokey body but not strong in the manner of the style. Bitter sour finish with light fish. I think this beer needs more beer strength and more smoke.

courtesy of Laurent Mousson - cloudy brown colour with a persistent beige foam; fairly smokey malty aroma with some flowery notes underneath; sweet and quite full-bodied; sweetish aftertaste of malts and minerals with lingering smokey notes - not convincing at all
