Bouteille 33cl, BB 27/04/2013.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Lightly hazy reddish color, small beige head. Aroma is malts, sweetness, overripe fruits, alcohol. Taste malts, sweetness, a hint of caramel, a hint of toffees, alcohol, a touch of wine and overripe fruits. Medium body and carbonation. Quite nice.

Quite a nice barleywine. No overly sweet but full malt flavor. On the thin end but best french beer I’ve had.

Bottle shared at LeviLOL tasting - thanks Ryan! Dark amber pour with a slight head. Big nose, lots of stuff going on. Nice taste. Lots of spicy and toffee flavors happening in here.

Bottled, from La Cave à Bulles, Paris. Cloudy copper colour, small head. Aroma of honey, apples and white pepper. Sweet with full body . Lots of caramel and alcohol, especially in the finish. Too sweet and alcoholic.

33cl bottle, big thanks to sebletitje for picking this up for me, pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a fairly tight tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of sticky sweet malts, caramel, molasses, a bit of toffee and chocolate malts where the chocolate note seems out of place yet still works here nicely somehow. In the background I also get prunes and figs and a bit of black pepper as well as a modest sense of booze especially for such a huge beer. The taste asserts itself as a smooth slick sipper where I get prunes and raisins moving into slightly brighter notes of spicy Belgian yeast. Behind those notes is a smooth sweet caramel and maltiness and slivers of toffee. I’m really enjoying this sipper. Yum.
