10th April 2009 Bottle from La Cave A Bulles. This brune beer is as dark as a stout! Short lived head. More like a porter and a very nice one. Immediate fruity sourness underpinned by a mild malty roastiness. The sourness keeps blooming - almost cherry like. A minerally fruity and malty finish. Not dry or bitter. A cracker of a French beer!

Beautiful pour with excellent brown head. Aroma is heavy on the roasted barley with just a hint of malt. Taste is a nice smooth spicy barley, with a decent syrupy mouthfeel but not in a bad way. This one’s working on a few levels, it’s worth a try.

Bottle from Cave à Bulles. Pours dark brown with a steady tan head. Lovely chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. The flavours emphasize roast, but nicely balanced by sweeter chocolate. Some dark fruit as well. Body could well be fuller. Still quite accomplished.

Tasting at Papsø’s Brown color. Dusty chocolate aroma and dusty chocolate flavor; there is a light presence of vegetables and yeast. Strong bitterness. A bit flawed but not bad.

Bottled. A very dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of bread, caramel, fruits, and more. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, brown sugar, and spices, leading to a dry roasted and spicy finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
