2013-11-12. Very dark brown body, nice beige head. 3++ Flavour is malty, sweetish caramel tinged malt with dryish dusty malt to follow, whisper of roast lingers, very lightly herbal touches. 7++ Aroma is mild, sweetish malt with light caramel and dusty roast accents. 7+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate, light carbonation. 3+ The bottle I assume is fairly old, but it has held up rather nicely. It may have lost a bit of complexity but the richness of the core is still there and quite pleasant. Bottle courtesy of Big Red

500 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a clear dark reddish brown with small light tan head. Aroma is roasty coffee/chocolate and nuts. Flavour is roasty coffee, some sweet chocolate and fruity almost cola and some nuttiness. A little on the flat side. Enjoyable.

Bottle courtesy of gethinbeer. Deep brown pour with a tight lasting off-white head. The aroma is a little bit toasty. Some chestnut and a little bit of coffee as well. Roasty with a touch of vegetal character - not offensive, but there. Moderate herbal hop flavour as well. Light on the palate without being watery. Iím not seeing a whole lot to complain about here. A nice root beer sort of component pops up as it warms a little.

Bottle, thank you as always Colin and Kendra and your very generous In-Laws! Odd aroma - burnt plastic, a little smoke. See through black big bubbly head. Taste is decent - cola, smoke, dark malt sweetness. Little no hops and watery. Gets better with subsequent sips but not enough to recommend it. I love a good Schwarzbier, but this is a poor effort from Garrison, homebrew winner or otherwise.

500ml bottle. Weak aroma of dark malt. Pours a deep mahogany with a red undertone and an off white head. Taste is kind of a burnt brown sugar. Palate is average. Overall, a bit of a let down.

Coca-cola olour with a frothy white head and lace. Slight roasted malt aroma. Roasted chocolate malt flavour. Pleasant texture. Caramel finish. thin bod. Much better in the bottle then on tap, doesnít have the nasty finish.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2012 500ml bottle. Pours dark brown, transparent, with a sparse head. Smoky aroma up front, with a burnt malty flavour and a hint of coffee mixed in. Light on the palate. Bit of a bittter aftertaste that is kind of hard to place.

500ml bottle. Dark brown pour with amber highlights. More transparent than I would have thought. The head is nearly nonexistent and leaves a tiny ring after seconds. Big puff of burning rubber up front, with some maltiness underneath and a little smoky edge. A lot more focused on the entry, with licorice and prune with a smokiness but around the midpalate it starts to fall apart and it just gets worse from there. The finish has a weird metallic bitterness that lasts in an unpleasant way.

clear, brownish colour, black tea like. Distracting aroma, weird, prune or something bio-degraded,--> compost like, ..slight burnt aroma. taste is better than it smells but not great. weird burnt malt thing, metallic at times. finish is fast, light. something taste and smells wrong.
