Holy hybrid, this legendary hop-forward style goes dark & deep with the addition of a big, roasted malt base. Dry-hopped & Unfiltered, don’t overthink this beast, just enjoy.

Quite dry and bitter with a nicely contrasting rich, dark malt. Sweet chocolate and roasted malts with a heavy drying hop note. Citrus and light floral notes with a heavy bitterness from both the hops and the roasted malts. Nice brew.

650 ml bottle poured at home into my brand new Teku glass. Pours a dark brown with a white head. Smell is quite powerful; piney and floral aromas. Tastes of some sort of citrus before a long, strong bitter finish. This is a drinkable beer but not one I’d want to consume all night.

Aroma of hops, pours a black color with a short lasting well laced tan head. Dry chalky feel with a taste of hops mildly bitter with a chlaky finish.

Poured from bottle. Aroma of coffee with some pine. Pours a cloudy dark brown with off-white head. Taste is heavy bitter. Has a medium body, sticky texture, and bitter finish. Not a bad brew, I’m just not sure if I’m a fan of the black IPA.

I know this is an ’unfiltered’ beer but I could chew on the yeast/sediment chunks which was pretty gross. Otherwise it had an awesome black pour, tons of pine and grapefruit notes and a great balance.

650ml bottle pours almost black in color with a 2 finger tan head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with some roasted grains and tropical fruits. Taste is a pine and grapefruit hop and roasted grain bitterness with a chocolate malt and tropical fruity sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a solid black IPA that should be tasted.

Pours clear amber-brown with a three fingers of loose light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is pine and tropical fruit, dark roasty malts, mild chocolate and coffee, some flowery and herbal hops. (6/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering and building bitter finish. (4/5) Not bad, but a bit muddled. The dark roasty malt flavours overbalance the hoppiness somewhat for my taste - I’d like to see brighter hops and a bit less of the dark roast. A decent enough brew, for all that. (12/20)

Pours up a deep cherry brown with a small head, ok lacing. Aroma is nice IPA hop with some pine and tropical fruit. Also some malt in there. Taste is primarily bitter with a little bit of toasty malt. Mostly bitter. Feel is pretty solid and full with a bitter scrapy aftertaste. Nice beer!

A fine CDA, BIPA, whatever they’re called. Nice classy label as well. A dark brown with ruby highlights, whiffs of citrus hops, roasty malts, resin and orange. You would think that combination would be wretched but therein lies the magic of this style. Bitter grapefruit hops balanced against mildly bitter malts that are still a tad sweet. I could enjoy this constantly and often.
