COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional beer style was originally brewed in countries bordering the Baltic Sea. Although derived from English porters, it was mostly influenced by Russian imperial stouts. Typically, the Baltic porters are brewed with lager yeasts and are smoother than the imperial stouts. Grand Baltic Porter is good for the soul & luxurious on a cold Baltic night. Skal!

500 mL bottle. Opaque cola brown. Just a ring of head. Malty in the nose. Dark, dried fruit. Light molasses. Grape juice? Anise. On the sweet side, as the style tends to be. Bitterness at the end (from alcohol?) Quite well done.

500mL bottle at a casual Saturday afternoon tasting with matt7215. Bottle from Jeff, thanks to both of you guys. Pours a deep dark reddish-brown that is mostly clear, but with a bit of sediment. Aroma is very much in line with an Imperial Stout. Anise, chocolate, coffee, soy sauce, ink, molasses and toffee, minor booze. Flavour is a a seemless blend of all of the above, nice fuller-feeling palate and definitely rich and satisfying. Not terribly complex, but very tasty and well brewed. A nice standard rendition of a Baltic Porter. Hard to believe this is a Canadian beer!

Pours a thick opaque brown with a thin creamy light brown head. Nose is very faint, with some roasty malts, and not a whole lot else. First thing I notice is that it is very smooth. Flavour is a bit of alcohol and lots of chocolatey malts. There is some bitterness, particularly in the finish. It has some almost spicy notes present as well, in the middle and the finish. Finish is slightly slightly bitter and lots of black malts. Mouthfeel is super creamy and smooth. Very nice.

Since this is fermented with a lager yeast the body id thinner than one would expect in a beer this dark, not altogether unpleasant though, but dicey as the beer comes in at a hefty percentage definitely one to lay down to cellar.

500ml bottle provided by Alex for our Canadian tasting...Pours a medium brown with a light tan head that rises about a finger but is gone right away, ugly...Light aroma of chocolate and grain, with a light dark fruits, not as sweet as expected for a bp...From the taste and feel I think right away this is a very lagerish bp. Not very sweet, roasy with dark fruits, not overly strong but decent enough to drink. Nothing special but I’d drink it again.

Rusty lid for me as well. Pours dark dark brown - light only sneaking through on the edges. Nice tight foam on top. Aromas - raisin, roast, molasses. Overripe banana? Almost has a smoky quality to it. Interesting progression as it warms up in the mouth. Warming alcohol touch to it. Sweetness gets a bit sticky/cloying after a while.

Nice to see a bunch of new Garrison hitting the LCBO. This baltic porter pours a darker brown colour with lots of red highlights. Not much of a head, disappearing quickly and not leaving any lace. Aromas are mild with raisins, plums, chocolate and something sweet, kind of like grape juice. Nice medium-full bodied. Becomes hazy at last pour and smells a bit more balanced at that point. No burning at all (really, this is 9% ABV ??). Taste is not as sweet as one would think. Nicely blended bitterness with the dark fruits and chocolate coming out in the finish. A nice version of the style (as per the description).

Dark dark brown with a good tan head that leaves behind a little lacing. Aroma is chocolate, oak, licorice, coffee. Taste is balsamic vinegar, coffee, vanilla. Well balanced, medium body, touch of wood on the finish. Tasty! More like an Imperial Stout than a porter.
