A lightly hazed blonde ale with a thin creamy white head. A light malty aroma, with light fruity esters. In mouth, a light caramel malt with some faint hops and mineral notes. On tap at brewery, Oct. 11 2009.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 12, 2008
[1211-20080320] 650mL bottle. Mild orange citrus grain aroma. Hazy, light brown orange body with a quick foamy white head. Grainy malt and cornfield continues in the flavour. Medium body. Average.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DuffMan (4427) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 12, 2008
Cloudy honey gold with a brief bubbly white head. Aroma is wheaty and fruity, sweet, slightly perfumey/soapy. Fresh and wheaty with an undefined sweetness and a kiss of citrus and subtle spice. Solid.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2007
Thanks to geth_in_beer for this one. Pale golden yellow appearance, slightly cloudy with a huge white head. The aroma is very fresh and wheaty. A fairly light lemony citrus component. A bit of herbal grassines as well. A hint of bubble gum and heavy wheatiness. A great example of an american wheat ale. It’s not a killer beer, but it’s got this style nailed.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 tupalev (2730) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2007
Bottle shared with GregClow, Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and Jerc, my bottle via Big Red and K. Keep in mind we had the Garrison Imperial Pale before this and were completely blown away and surprised. Aroma is pretty much non-existent - mild wheat I guess? Yellow, small white head. Mild diluted wheat taste - tangy. Watery, bland, not good at all, what a disappointment after that pale. This bottle was only a couple of weeks old when we tried it, maybe we just got an off batch or something based on some other early good ratings...
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GiBrew (171) - Fredericton, New Brunswick, CANADA - NOV 17, 2007
Tasted as I was bottling my Festabrew Westcoast IPA - Nothing to do with this beer, but I’m very exited about my IPA, so Thought I mentioned it!
Hazy yellow to light orange in colour with a nice creamy head. Citrus fruit aroma with some spices. Likewise for the flavours, with the addition of faint banana. Nice creamy mouthfeel and a lingering yeast finish. Not bad...
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 GregClow (2667) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 16, 2007
Bottle shared with tupalev, HogTownHarry, blankboy and jerc - tupalev’s bottle. Hazy golden-yellow with a small white head. Aroma - I can’t really place what I’m smelling, but I don’t really care for it - wet grain, maybe? Body is thin, as is the flavour. A bit of coriander, a bit of yeast, and lot of nothin’. Meh.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 blankboy (4452) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 13, 2007
Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a cloudy dark yellow with an average size somewhat-lasting white head. Aroma’s grainy, citrusy, mildly sour with some sweetness and yeast -- I’m not crazy about this aroma. Watery flavour of wheat, grain, yeast and a light sourness. Thin bodied. Quite disappointing, this is just passable.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 HogTownHarry (4872) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - NOV 7, 2007
Bottle (330ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev. Cloudy gold-yellow pour, average head. Odd aroma - banana bread, cereal grain, stale hops - smells a bit of wild Belgian yeast strains. Taste was quite wan, light tree fruit, faint floral hops in the finish - not much of anything here. Thin, flat, slightly stale - mehh.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Gethinbeer (1565) - Musky, Nova Scotia, CANADA - NOV 7, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2008 Bottle. Sweet, fruit aroma. Brown sugar. Cloudy orange squash appearance. Thin to no head. Smooth texture, fruity, jelly baby like flavour or even wine gums. Not so much a wheat ale for me. If the guy below thinks there’s a disparity then I’m not sure about my rating. I felt it was’nt up to European wheat beers for sure.
