Commercial Description:
Deep golden, medium bodied and nicely bitter, Hopyard Pale is exceptional in the West Coast style. Generous hopping in the boil and further dry-hopping produce a fruity/floral aroma and refreshingly bitter finish. A true thirst quencher!

[2546-20091024] 341mL bottle. Tree bark and corn mash aroma. Clear, light orange yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. More corn straw grains in the flavour along with heaviness and bitterness. Medium body is rough. Fair but rough.

2009-10-24. Golden body with smooth white head. 3+ Aroma is grassy floral hops. 6+ Flavour is similar, grassy floral hops, moderate bitterness throughout. 6+ Average palate is a touch light but smooth. Pale ale? The hop profile makes me thing of a lager. Decent brew but not really to my tastes. Bottle shared by Tupalev

Bottled from someone, can’t remember who. Cloudy orange with a minimal foam cap. Slightly pretzely, oily, grainy aroma, which when agitated becomes a bit more hoppy and pleasant. Gritty, dry hop flavor, a bit of hay and dirt thrown in there. Lively body, fairly easy drinking. Not sure I’d call this West Coast Style but it ain’t bad.

Clear orange/amber, still body, slightly creamy off white head. Powerful grass nose, cut wood. Bitter hop hits early, roses, grass, and some nutshell. Nice mouthfeel, soft and filling. I was expecting a wussy effort, this is quite flavourful. Nice.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light bitter hops with lightly sweet caramel malt. Taste is also a nice enough mix between some caramel malt with light residual sugar and some bitter hops at the end. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Not bad but nothing spectacular.

Amber beer with a thick white/yellow head. The nose is lightly hoppy with a bit of light grapefruity citrus and some lightly caramelly maltiness. Light, lean body. Nicely balanced APA with the light fruity and spicy character of the hops reminding me a little bit of SNPA. A nice session pale ale.
