2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 TheHulk (485) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 17, 2011
This is a bit too much hops for so little % and malts... you’re just trying to figure out how sweet it is and then your taste buds get sierial crushed by some huge fricken hops guy. There really isn’t much else to say, I can’t make out much of a flavour, it’s just hops and hops for days. It’s kind of a bit strong, and I started out as a hop head. This just doesn’t have the other pillars to support double IPA hops and dry hopping. it starts to remind me of tree sap ale.

Bottle, thanks to Cole. Pours clear amber, persistent 1-finger off-white head, spotty lacing. God DAMN it’s nice to be back to quality beer after rating 6 pieces of utter garbage. Nose is spicy, almost perfumey hops, with solid caramel undertones, almost butterscotch. Very strong juniper notes here, a definite juniper berry note. Flavours are IPA bitter, very crisp, balanced by the vanillin caramel notes, Plenty of spiciness and juniper here too. Lightly soapy, I really would consider this more of an IPA than an APA, finish is quite astringent. Again, like their Imperial IPA, Garrison rather marches to their own drummer. An interesting brew, refreshing enough, but I’m REALLY glad I had this very fresh, as this type of Pale Ale goes off as soon as you look the other way.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cole (967) - , Alberta, CANADA - FEB 17, 2011
Pours amber with a nice white head. Fantstic bold hop aroma. Citrus and vanilla. Great! Great flavour full complex. Hopy floral. Vanilla and swet Caramel slighty bitter but very drinking. I think this cis fucking awesome! But i also just rated 4 super shitty pale lagers and a half decent malt liquor.

341ml brown bottle. Golden coloured beer with
A generous fluffy white head. Good sticky lace.
Citrus nose, grapefruity with oranges. Flavor is hop toward with lots
Of grapefruit notes. Some light malts behind the pleasant grapefruity bitterness. Body is light, medium carbonation. I love a good APA and this is one.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 Fantastic pale from a great east coast brewer. Nicely hop forward without being overwhelming, nice bitter finish.
Update: Still loving this one. Hops are definitely forward, very slight malt backing to balance out a bit.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 neuromatt (858) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2011
On tap at the brewery, served in a tasting glass. Pours clear amber with a smallish off-white head. The head fades slowly to a remnant, leaving a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has sharp, high-alpha hops along with lots of biscuit and grain. There are also hints of grapefruit and caramel. The flavour tilts towards bitterness and is fairly dry. It is acidic with strong hop bitterness accompanied by fresh grain and some caramel. The finish is long and quite bitter. On the palate, it is medium in body with a watery texture and sharp carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice, bitter pale ale. It is beautifully hopped and perfectly consistent with the style. 2011-01-23

Picked up during a trip to Halifax. The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the flowery hops, along with some grass and biscuit malt. The flavor has hop aspects that are flowery, earthy and grassy. I also get some biscuit malt and a flavor that is reminiscent of iced tea. There is not much bitterness, but there is quite a bit of hop flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not bad, but nothing too terribly special.

Amber beer. First bitter beer I’ve tried, so I’m not sure how it compares. Overall a decent beer.

bottle: Decants a hazed orangey-amber ale with a 2 finger creamy cap that lasts. Moderate carbonation, Great lacing.
Medium bodied, fruity floral character, chewy mouth feel.
Front side has good balance between amerillo hops and crystal malt,....mid palate some complexity of malt blend plus fruity tastes (pear/apricot) ....long drying bittering finish, goes clean ant has a bite.
Nothing unique bur a good boiler plate US styled micro plale...possibly a tad dryer....well made, flavourful, drinks well.
