COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep golden, medium bodied and nicely bitter, Hopyard Pale is exceptional in the West Coast style. Generous hopping in the boil and further dry-hopping produce a fruity/floral aroma and refreshingly bitter finish. A true thirst quencher!

One of the best pale ales I’ve had. Extremely grassy aroma, which just cleared my nostrils right up before taking my gulps. Nice finish. If this were available on draft in BC I’d drink it all the time.

Parfum résineux de sapin et de carambole. Le goût est dans la même veine avec une amertume terreuse. Une pale ale lourdement rafraîchissante avec une surprenante propension aux houblons. Buvabilité excessive.

In short: An orgy of floral and piney dry-hopping (this special tap version was probably different than the bottle)
How: Tap at Trou Du Diable, Shawinigan Qc. (menu said Garrison Hop Yard dry-hopped)
The look: Clear golden body topped by a medium off-white head with good retention
In long: Nose is full of floral hops essence, generous dry-hop. Body has a solid pale malts backbone with doesn’t contribute much to the overall flavor. Like plain pale crackers. Hops dominate, lots and lots of hops juice, floral and a bit piney. Juicy hops resin that sticks to the mouth. Not a refreshing IPA but a nice treat for a hop-head like me. Since the menu said “Garrison Hop Yard dry-hopped” I suspect it is different from the regular bottled version. The regular bottled version probably doesn’t have this excessively generous dry-hopping. Anyway, because of the “dry-hopping” I don’t know if this rating is for a different beer than what other people are rating, and if so I don’t know if the dry-hopped version is better than the regular version, but one thing we can all agree on is that at this very moment this rating is by far my most recent.

341ml bottle pours a golden orangeish color with about a finger and a half of white head which leaves some thin lacing on side of glass. Aroma is pleasing floral hops with a hint of fruit. Taste is nicely balanced between the malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Medium body and good carbonation leave the palate refreshed. Has a nice dry finish. A very nice pale ale which stays true to the style.

6-pack from LCBO. Pours slightly hazy dark gold, with lots of carbonation. Aroma is nice - assortment of fruits. The taste is where this beer is lacking. Just tastes and feels a bit watery. Almost no body, and very little hoppy flavour at first, with a bitter and slightly fruity aftertaste, and an extremely dry finish. A letdown after the nice aroma.
