Launched and enthusiastically received at the first annual Halifax Seaport Beer Fest in August 2007, this ale has quickly become known as the hoppiest beer in Atlantic Canada! Imperial Pale Ale is a robust, medium bodied west coast style ale with a lingering hop bitterness complimented by a malty caramel backbone and a strong citrus character. This beer is for the true hophead! Appeared on cask dry hopped with Comet Hops as Comet IIPA.

Pours a rich clear amber colour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is of citrus hops, some grapefruit, and a little pine. Taste is sweet up front with an earthy bitterness that quickly takes over. Medium body, good carbonation, and a smooth-creamy mouth feel. An enjoyable Imperial I.P.A.

Draft at the brewery. Golden body, clear and the color of a whisky. White head with small bubbles. The aroma has cola, wood, nuts. The taste is nuts and grapefruit.

Veiled dark amber color with tons of subtle activity. Creamy beige/orangy 2 finger head, lasting around 15 to 20 minutes, with very good legs. Aromas of fresh flowers and citrus. Flavors of orange, tropical fruits, lemon, pine, caramel, slight ester, floral and herbal spices. Strong grassiness with a burnt sugar feel. Smooth and slick medium body with nice carbonation. Strong and long finish, ending with a harsh spicy piney lingering tongue coat feel. Overall this is a good craft boosting interesting tasty flavors, while overly spicy. Slightly stale, boozy, and missing some freshness. Well balanced though.

Dark gold pour with great off white head. Big nose of citrus with caramel. Flavor is very balanced. Hit up front, but is soon smoothed over by a nice hint of roasted malt. Clean finish.

Canadian ipa that rivals the worlds best. Tropical fruit on the nose and tongue. Sweet flavour of mangoes and grapefruit but keeps the bitterness down and makes for a very smooth a fruity ipa.

Keg at the brewery. It pours clear deep amber with a small white head. The nose is soft, juicy, bitter-sweet, orange citrus, guava, papaya and resin. The taste is rather bitter, oily, resinous, dry, piney, varnish, big hit of grapefruit, waxy rind, earth and peppery spice with a lingering bitter-dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Punchy, yet rather drinkable. Good double IPA.

Not really a big pinch you on the face beer for an IPA but it's smooth with caramel and floral notes, worthy of your coin. On tap in Canada ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An amazing IPA. Huge bitter citrus hop flavours with a nice amount of malts and alcohol to balance it out.

Pours clear pale amber with two fingers of rocky white head, good retention and lacing. (4/5) Nose is bright citrus and pine resin, tropical fruit, mild caramel malt. (8/10) Taste is mild to moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky and lingering bitter finish. (4/5) No bottle date, but definitely fresh - hop-forward all the way, bright and sharp, with just enough malt in support. Probably the strongest performer I’ve had from Garrison’s lineup. The ABV isn’t absent, but it’s also not intrusive. (16/20)
