One of the better red ales, a little bitter, not too sweet.

Is it just me or do many Garrison beers have the same soft taste? Honey malt or something... hey I don’t mind it, this was quaffable and gave a nice crystal feel in that pipe between my mouth and nose. A great beer? No. Drinkable? You betcha.

241 ml bottle. Pours a red brown with light stable head. Aroma of malt and nuts with hints of chalk and earth. Mild taste - very mild. Smooth but nothing much there other than malty hints. Disappointing.

Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 02/22/2012. Colour: equal mix of orange and brown. Poured quite fizzy with no head. Nose: warming mix of maple, nut and caramel. Some egg as well. Taste: medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. A dash of malt vinegar, roasted malt, sweet char on the finish. Serviceable taste but over-carbonated.

341ml bottle from tasters 6-pack pours amber in color with a finger of white head which settles and only leaves a little spotted lace on the glass. Aroma is mild caramel. Taste is light malty sweetness with a little toastiness and a light hoppy bitter finish. A little better than a Rickard’s Red.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1428) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 5, 2011
Originally rated February 2006. Thanks to Plug for bringing this one back from Nova Scotia. Pours a dark amber colour with a tanned big fluffy head. Retention is great, so is lacing. Carbonation is very light. Good strong nose that is quite bitter, with notes of chocolat and coffee. Kind of watery mouthfeel with slight stickiness. The mouth is smoother than the aroma. Caramel and roasted malts with some good hoppiness, as Cottrell was throwing some of those quick rhymes. Also, mild nutty taste with some apple hints. A very interesting and nice amber ale, worth trying.

341ml bottle. Clear dark amber pour with a slightly tan head that has decent retention. Smells of sour cereal grain with a slightly roasted character and a wisp of caramel. Medium bodied with some nice caramel and roasted notes on the palate. The carbonation has a sharp feel to it. Surprisingly decent for what I’ve come to expect from this brewery.

341ml bottle. Oh, Halifax and its hops. A little more bitter than is typical for a red ale, but still balanced. Solid red colour and maltiness.

Tap at brewery, the beer just tastes exactly like an irish red ale. It is a nice light clear red colour, the malts taste like other Irish ales, it has a little bit of a cherry taste. It is a very easy drinking beer. Good tasting stuff
