COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heavily roasted malts and full bodied taste characterize this darkest of traditional brews. Martello Stout is uncompromisingly bold like the unique towers which defended our early maritime shores.

. Aroma of dry roasted malts, oats, and unsweetened dark cocoa. Flavour is less pleasant, with metallic-tinged dry roasted malt, oats and bittersweet cocoa. There is a bitter, metallic finish that lasts quite a while. Pretty simple and with too many flaws, but drinkable

Aroma : Rich smokie aroma with some sweet maltiness and creamie notes Taste : rich taste with a very dry and smokey character. However the rich malt characters finishes somewhat flat but not too significantly. A slight bitter bite at finish. Appearance : Dark brown body with a creamy head with medium retention

Poured from 341mL bottle. Opaque dark black with nice beige head. Roasted malt, coffee, and some wood aroma. Body is quite light with slightly creamy texture. Light coffee taste, some licorice, feint hint of dark fruit. Flavour seems a little bit thin for a stout overall.

The appearance and aroma are fine, but the main flavour I’m getting is a distinctly salty aftertaste. Not a good stout.

500 ml bottle. Pillowy tan head that took a while to disappate. Hint of oaty and coffee flavours with a bit of a smoky aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Light bitterness on the tail end. Probably the best of the locally-produced stouts.
