Heavily roasted malts and full bodied taste characterize this darkest of traditional brews. Martello Stout is uncompromisingly bold like the unique towers which defended our early maritime shores.

Thanks northopfrye. Pours black with with nice soft tan head. Aromas of black licorice and coffee. Similar flavors. Earthy, sweet, and musky. Interesting. Average.

Pours clear brown with one fat finger of loose tan head, good retention and spotty lacing. (3/5) Nose is muted, roasty malts, cocoa, oats, slight smoke. (6/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium body tending to watery, moderate to low carbonation, off dry bitter finish. (3/5) Not terrible, but not great, either. The body could be a little fuller, and the smokiness comes across a little less "smoked malt" and a little more "cigarette butt in your beer", and the finish tends a little to the astringent. Not their best. (12/20)

Opaque black. Beige head that quickly subsides. Malt, light roast, caramel, and chocolate milk aroma. Mid bodied, creamy, and dry. Roast, malt and chocolate flavour. Light and meek. Lacks pungent aromas and taste.

Poured from bottle. Very nice aromas of chocolate and coffee. Pours very dark brown with a good amount of tan head. Light to medium bitter taste. Medium to heavy body, with creamy texture, and a slight bitter finish. Overall a very nice local stout.

Pours fairly black with a medium tan head. Light nutty aromas, some chocolate, light coffee. Rather thin texture, with a fizzy carbonation, not what i’m used to in a stout. Taste isn’t anything out of the ordinary, it’s not bad, but tastes more like a brown ale.

(1175-070814)

Pours a pitch black colour where no light escapes, with a very brown head that settles to a nice lacing. Semi-sweet chocolate, tons and tons of rich coffee. Bit of smokiness carries to the flavour. Moderately bitter in finish. A little thin.

My favorite stout of all time. Full bodied, nice roasted, chocolate and coffee notes. Great year round stout.

Noir avec une marron mousse moyenne et très stable. L’arôme du malt torréfié et café avec un goût similar (mais une finition d’une amertume moyenne pour un stout). Un peu onctueux mais avec carbonization moyenne qui fait-il fait pas épais.

I love Garrison beers almost all of the time, but something went wrong with this stout. I have given multiple chances, but it is never that great. It is not that it is a bad beer, but as a stout it falls very short I find. It taste to me like if you mixed half stout half tap water. I’m sorry I am a stout man, but this just doesn’t do it for me. Great name though.
