Not bad.
2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 WheatKing (186) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 25, 2012
The appearance and aroma are fine, but the main flavour I’m getting is a distinctly salty aftertaste. Not a good stout.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Gerbeer (137) - vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 17, 2012
341 ml bottle. Pours a thick black with light tan head. Light aromas of dark chocolate and chalk. Metallic, acidic, and bitter. Not great.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 garth_86 (41) - EDMONTON, Alberta, CANADA - APR 21, 2012
Dark pour reddish in light. Nose is coffee, roasted, dry oats. Taste is of coffee. Good beer though.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 plaugher (11) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 17, 2012
500 ml bottle. Pillowy tan head that took a while to disappate. Hint of oaty and coffee flavours with a bit of a smoky aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Light bitterness on the tail end. Probably the best of the locally-produced stouts.
2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 mcberko (2475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 28, 2012
341mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of dry roasted malts, oats, and unsweetened dark cocoa. Flavour is less pleasant, with metallic-tinged dry roasted malt, oats and bittersweet cocoa. There is a bitter, metallic finish that lasts quite a while. Pretty simple and with too many flaws, but drinkable.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2191) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 29, 2011
500ml bottle pours almost black in color with a quickly receding 2 fingers of light tan head which left some spotted lacing behind. Aroma is light roasted malts and espresso. Taste is a espresso bitterness with some light malty sweetness and light hop bitterness. Not being a coffee drinker, this brew had a little too much coffee flavor for my liking, but is still a decent quality stout.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Atheist_Peace (515) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - OCT 29, 2011
500ml bottle. Deep, opaque brown pour with average mocha head that recedes too quickly. The nose is odd for a stout; burnt espresso with a real barnyardy edge and a light hop presence. Good roasty feel in the mouth with a mostly one dimensional espresso taste that finishes with a light bitterness. A little light in the body. Overall more impressive than anything I’ve had from these guys in quite a while which isn’t really saying much.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bendrixian (460) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - OCT 29, 2011
smoke aroma, tar, coffee aroma. the palate is almost tart/fruity and a burnt toast bitterness. not bad but not great.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 northropfrye (845) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 12, 2011
Bottle. Nice smokey aroma, coffee, dried fruit. Dark cola colour with a brown head. Taste is bitter smokey, but a touch watery, coffee, chocolate. Palate is kind of lackluster, not much happening.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dreamflower (195) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 12, 2011
Bottle shared with northropfrye. There’s a spiced smoke aroma which promise much flavour but does not deliver. Very dark, a pretty enough beer, but lacking in taste.
