4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml Bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish amber with a pearl coloured head, perfect carbonation for this style of beer. Aroma is of sweet malts, with notes of toffee, with some vanilla. Taste: Very malty, moderate sweetness, notes of caramel, with a good floral hop bitterness, some earthiness. Warming mouthfeel, very full-bodied. Finishes with a grassy bitterness over a nice malt sweetness. An excellent barley wine!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep tawny color. Cereals, strawberries, milk chocolate and dried fruit dominate the nose. Very malty. Alcohol well hidden and tasted like liquid Christmas cake. Slightly sweet. This would age well. I loved this.

Ol’ Fog Burner, aside from having a kick ass name and label, is a big’un of a brew. This is the 11.5% 2015 version and it is one massive massive. Like a cannonball, explosive piney and floral hop blasts barrel off of the head. Rounded out by sweet toffee and brown bread maltiness, only a slight vestige of booziness reminds you of the true strength. At first sweet and then finishing rather dry and bitter, this is a roller coaster ride with each sip. With a mouthfeel that is somewhat slick and soft carbonation, this really sits in the mouth and warms you up. Not to be taken lightly.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I found this one better than its casked cousin. The alcohol is more tolerable tin this version. More fruity with raisins and banana ester coming through. Very complex, but not really mellow, again it has a strong aftertaste that sticks around.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2010 vintage. Deep copper pour. Small head. Dark fruits, prevalent in aroma. Fig, raisin, slight bit of oak, still somewhat bitter but the malt backbone really shines through now.... Kind of like an old ale light. Alcohol warming but not terribly boozy anymore. Lighter carbonation. Aged properly as far as i can tell.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a nutty khaki brown color with a thin finger of gaseous bubbles. Lots of burnt sugar, some citrus grassy notes that don’t really come together with the booze and sweetness. Soft sugar notes are tasty but the beer just doesn’t harmonize the way some great barley wines do. Very drinkable just not outstanding !

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
All kinds of sugar ad spice in this beer. Aroma has hops booze and candied malt. Pours cloudy red. Aroma has strong bitterness and light sweetness. A good tug o war on the palate that comes off a bit on the inconsistent side. Thick consistency and boozy aftertaste. Friday sample bottle at volos.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2014 Hazy orange/copper with a small off-white head. Aroma is heavy on the oak and bourbon with subtler notes of vanilla and cherries. Flavor is complex but the oak is fighting at the front with berries and booze behind it. Good, but very boozy and unbalanced.

500ml bottle. 11.3%. Pours a clear burnt caramel colour with a thin beige head. The first thing that hits your nose is alcohol, and caramel. A good combo. Floral notes, and sultana raisins too. As for taste, sweet dried fruit notes, followed by some serious mouth burning alcohol, a taste that reminds me of cheap fruity hard candies, faint cherry cola, and some earthy/menthol notes in the bitter finish. Fog Burner indeed!
