500ml Bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish amber with a pearl coloured head, perfect carbonation for this style of beer. Aroma is of sweet malts, with notes of toffee, with some vanilla. Taste: Very malty, moderate sweetness, notes of caramel, with a good floral hop bitterness, some earthiness. Warming mouthfeel, very full-bodied. Finishes with a grassy bitterness over a nice malt sweetness. An excellent barley wine!

This is a great barley wine. Pours a beautiful autumn red. Aromas of big toffee and caramel, wet dog, sweet grape kool-aid. Flavours are vinous, big sweet caramel and toffee but a great boozy hoppy finish. Great barley wine by these folks.

The remarkable thing is that northropfrye opened this last night, then fell asleep, and I dark the remainder today and it still was fantastic. Sweet, but well balanced with hops. Rich and very flavourful. I loved this beer!

Deep dark orange/copper body with reddish-brown foamy head and nice lacing. Vibrant citrus hop and rich malt aroma, dried fruit, breadiness. Taste is sweet dried fruit, caramel, very rich with a bitter hoppy finish. A touch hoppier than a lot of barley wines. Really good quality beverage.

ENG: 500ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg, poured into the Teku glass. Amber to red, opalescent color with medium, beige head. Sweety aromas, like juice, bubblegum. Hoppy grapefruit and other citrus with a bit of pine underneath. Very interesting. Tastes roasty, malty, caramelly, with some kind of pepper bitterness. Earthy notes, hoppy notes. Finishes piney-tarty. A bit alcoholic but hey, it’s 11.5%. Also tarty aftertaste. Oily, thick texture - fully bodied with no or low carbonation. Overall interesting, more American in style, than British barley wine. That smooth, delicate hoppiness is what I like in it over the English counterparts.

PL: Butelka 500ml zakupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg, przelana do Teku. Barwa bursztynowo-czerwona, opalizująca. Piana beżowa, średnia. Słodkie aromaty przypominające soki, gumę do żucia. Chmiele grejfrutowe, cytrusowe z dodatkiem żywicy. Bardzo interesujące. W smaku palone, słodowe, karmelowe, z dodatkiem jakby pieprzowej goryczki. Nuty ziemiste, chmielowe.

Bottle. Deep amber pour with a bit of sediment and a light beige head. Aroma is pretty classic barley wine, sweetly malty and a bit boozy with a slight hop edge. Flavour is pretty sweet but not cloying, caramel and bread with a hop bitterness at the end. Medium bodied and low carbonation with an oily texture. Pretty decent barley wine, but nothing special.

Deep tawny color. Cereals, strawberries, milk chocolate and dried fruit dominate the nose. Very malty. Alcohol well hidden and tasted like liquid Christmas cake. Slightly sweet. This would age well. I loved this.

Ol’ Fog Burner, aside from having a kick ass name and label, is a big’un of a brew. This is the 11.5% 2015 version and it is one massive massive. Like a cannonball, explosive piney and floral hop blasts barrel off of the head. Rounded out by sweet toffee and brown bread maltiness, only a slight vestige of booziness reminds you of the true strength. At first sweet and then finishing rather dry and bitter, this is a roller coaster ride with each sip. With a mouthfeel that is somewhat slick and soft carbonation, this really sits in the mouth and warms you up. Not to be taken lightly.

Pours slightly cloudy light brown limited head and lots of lacing. Nose is some leather maybe tobacco. Flavours are syrup, light plums light earthy bitterness. Taste medium sweet medium bitter. Medium body with lively alcohol burn. Big beer!

I found this one better than its casked cousin. The alcohol is more tolerable tin this version. More fruity with raisins and banana ester coming through. Very complex, but not really mellow, again it has a strong aftertaste that sticks around.

2010 vintage. Deep copper pour. Small head. Dark fruits, prevalent in aroma. Fig, raisin, slight bit of oak, still somewhat bitter but the malt backbone really shines through now.... Kind of like an old ale light. Alcohol warming but not terribly boozy anymore. Lighter carbonation. Aged properly as far as i can tell.
