This refreshing premium ale is golden-amber with light maltiness, crisp hop aroma, and smooth, dry finish. Launch into Halifax’s own "Tall Ship Amber Ale", and celebrate our rich nautical history.

I had this beer on tap in Halifax. Nice amber colour with rich white head. The malt/hop balance was quite good. The hop aroma came through with a long bitter finish, warmed by the caramel maltiness and earthiness.

Purchased at NS Liquor on my trip to Nova Scotia. Pours a rich golden colour with a very light amber hue. Nice creamy off-white head with decent retention and some more creamy lacing. Aromas are quite grainy with some hay and mild sweetness. The taste is pretty much the same, but with the hop showing in the finish. Light grass, but with a touch of what seems like adjunct or chemical hints. The rest is not bad, but not like written on label "Premium", nor "Spéciale".

My Bottom Line:
This generic but well-made Amber Ale is all about lean, caramelized cereals until herbal hops and their bitterness whisper through in the finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam laces around the pale amber.
-Drinkability is rather high and seems to be this brew’s main feature.
-There is no complexity here, but I’m sure that’s not the point of this beer.
-This was perfect for a scallop dish in an apple brandy reduction. Quite useful with green veggies as well, otherwise a difficult pairing.

On tap at a restaurant in Halifax.

650 ml bottle poured at my wife’s parent’s cottage (labelled as tall ship east coast ale). Pours a clear amber color with little head. Smells of chestnuts and malt. Taste is hard to nail down, but malt is prevalent. Decent, drinkable beer.

Golden orange body bubbly white head a touch of lacing. Slight sweet malty aroma. Not much going on there. Taste is sweet faint a touch of bitterness and a slight sweet vanilla bubblegum finish but all very subdued. Pretty basic amber ale.

Minimal head. Transparent gold/red hue. Many bubbles. Pleasant honey, caramel, and malt aroma. Thin bodied. Fair amount of bubbly hop supplemented with flavours of honey, malt and caramel with a slightly dry, crisp finish. Good, but certainly not spectacular.

Pours clear pale gold with a short off-white head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, spotty lacing. (3/5) Nose is pale biscuity malt, faint leafy hops. (4/10) Taste is mild sweet, mild bitter. (4/10) Light body, low sustained carbonation. (3/5) Gotta be the palest "amber" I’ve ever had, and I think they filtered out all the flavour along with the colour. Pretty bland stuff. (8/20)

Bland with wet cardboard oxidized notes and a hint of infection. This beer does not have much going for it.

Dark gold colour, medium head that lasts. Malty aroma, toffee. Dry start, caramel finish. OK beer.

Pours a clear copper colour with a fast disappearing head that settles as a thin film and leaves no lace. The toasted caramel notes dominate the flavour and grassy hops come through on the finish. A bit of a earthy amber ale with some leafy green notes. a thin beer, kind of generic.
