Commercial Description:
An Irish Dry stout this is rich, dry, extra-dark, almost black ale. We use English Maris Otter, Black & caramel and Belgian Chocolate malts as well as American Roasted & flaked barley. The dryness comes from the use of roasted unmalted barley and a high hop bittering rate; flaked unmalted barley also adds a creaminess. It is Hopped with German Magnum & American Santiam. Served cold from tap. Pretty much everything about it reminded me of Guinness, but slightly worse. That’s the best description i can come up with at the time. Close to a clone, but even drinking Guinness doesn’t impress me anymore, so this was a disappointment.

Dark brown pour with tan head and lace. A smell of a plugged kitchen drain. Sour aroma with pears, smoke, and peat. Body was a bit foamy and thin. Not a very good beer. Not terrible but just off by alot.

Nitro at the brewpub. Pours a watery black body with a tan head, with little retention. Aroma chocolate malt, caramel malt, and roasted chocolate. This one just seemed watered down to me.

Light body, watery, some coffee. Not bad at first, easy drinking and smooth. Simple.

This bottled brew from the brewery poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque no visible carbonation dark red brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was malty like on nitro and contained brown malt notes. The smooth flat lack luster flavor contained notes of dark malt and a dry finish. Very unidimensional and not one that I would likely drink again.

This was an ok nitro stout. Had a pint at the bar. Aroma and flavor were both skewed toward the caramel sweet side and less on the roasty dry coffee side. Body and mouthfeel were standard to the nitro pour, so no complaints there. Finish is relatively smooht. Enjoyable but I wanted some roastiness and chocolate in there.
