Fair enough. yobdoog (1429), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Jan 16, 2008 Very easy drinking. Aroma of earthy chocoalte and caramel malts. Taste is very light, mild, not too much going on. Better before food. 3.0 (with food 2.6) Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jan 17, 2006 This is really a mild ale, not a stout, and 3.4% for this years version. Pours a dark amber/light brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is caramel, chcolate malt and some toasted malts. Light hoppy presence all the way through. Stale malty flavor, a bit oxidized, light cardboard, but not too bad. Pretty easy drinking overall. MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Dec 7, 2005 blackish grey color, light shines through, slightly brownish at the edges. aroma is roasty malt and a little tobacco. flavor starts dry roasted malt and a bit dried fruit, but then quickly goes thin to watery. some tobacco in the aftertaste. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Nov 29, 2004 Nearly black, little head. Roasted clay nose. Nice nutty wooden taste. Decent. beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA Nov 13, 2004 NOT SABOTAGED. Tricksey bartender couldn’t get away with confusing us on this sample. Carbon tasting. And delcious. Jumps on the tounge. Huff of oak. Richness. Best of sampler. That’s not saying much. Sigh. But I do love South Orange... wish they could pump up their beers better.
