A hazy dark amber beer with a fast disappearing orange head. The aroma i ssweet and a bit acidic with notes of prunes. The flavor is sweet malty, but also with a light acidic edge, combined with notes of caramel, leaidng to a dry spicy end. A terrible aroma, but an OK flavor.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Bought at the brewery (with taproom), which was actually closed, but the son in law let us in and gave us a tour, and a lattle later brewmaster (and father in law) Eric Amaye showed up himself! He is a small, mild man with a timid pride in his beer. The beer is a brown, spicy ale with perfect harmony between the sweetness and the bitterness. Sweetness from added brown sugar. Sediment in the bottle makes the last mouthfull a muddy experience. A very satisfactory beer. 050804

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy deep orange to brown with a lacing white head. Spiced and slight off and dry aroma. Acidic and light spiced base flavour. Clear infected. Dry and lingering finish with a mild creamy finish yet with a persisting acidic off note.

Bottled. Cloudy dark amber. Estery strawbeery aroma with a light touch of vinegar. Sweet nose, somewhat frutity, clean mouthfeel, some syrup. Drier finish. Interesting, but not as good as their blond.

Bottle. Malty aroma, brown sugar, slightly farty. Cloudy brown colour. Small stable light brown head. Sweetish flavour with a good sourness and hint of salt. Like a very mild Flemish sour. Slightly high carbonation. Good mouthfeel, creamy, when some of the excess CO2 is gone. Quite good and OK balanced.

Even after 3 years, it's still almost explosive; cloudy light amber color, poor head retention. Strong aroma, malty and sour, a bit fruity. Quite dry mouthfeel, a bit astringent, woody. Old hops and long palate.

Bottle at the brewery. Very carbonated, murky brown. Pretty standard, slightly sweet. Pretty good standard Belgian brown ale, nice dry malt, some good darkish fruit. OK.
