JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Jan 30, 2005 Creamy, collapsing dense head leaving some lace; clear dark chestnut colour. Ever so slightly sourish nose, dark malts galore, a typical example of a benign infection. Liquorice flavour without the sweetness, gliding into chocolate flavour. Bit of roasted grain. Initial acidity slowly changes into flowery sweetish flavour. Well bodied, but acidity makes it thinner than it really is. Good beer, but experience learns it can vary. Can be excellent, can be defective. Sample hodie is in between. As in best condition this beer is excellent, I think it suffers from demand/production possibility ratio.
Magic_dave6 (3751), London, Greater London, England Sep 4, 2008 Bottle at chris_o’s pree banter banter. Alround rating: Dark roasty malts, lots of candy sugar, fruity, plums, slightly spicey. Mes_and_Sim (4365), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 10, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s Thick, murky amber body with a very slight tan rim and quite heavy carbonation. Fairly heavy yeasty stuff with some good fruity notes. Very burnt malty notes with slight spicy hints. Well balanced and very well hidden alcohol considering the high abv. Decent beer. KimJohansen (3351), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 9, 2008 Hazy deep amber with tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with overripe fruits, yeast and caramel. Sourish flavor with caramel and toasted malt. oh6gdx (5904), Vaasa, Finland Aug 6, 2008 Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some alcohol and yeast. Flavour is fruits, alcohol and some slight notes of sourness. Though the alcohol is evident, the beer is still quite well in balance. BoBoChamp (656), Gent, Belgium Jul 29, 2008 33cl, exclusive brewery, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, yet heavy, hazy, nearly no head, good brew
