JorisPPattyn (4500), Antwerpen, Belgium Dec 15, 2002 Very nice aroma. Spices (21 different kinds added - in 2002 even more!)are responsible, but also a ever so slight lactic infection (this beer is 1 year old - the new one not yet availbale), which is both pleasing to nose and palate. Slightly sweet, but beautifully balanced by the lactic acid.
BoBoChamp (732), Gent, Belgium Jul 29, 2008 33cl, exclusive brewery, from the brewery, complex, balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, nice X-Mas brew yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 25, 2007 33 cL bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours hazzlenut brown, golden and clear with a lacing white head. Spiced aroma. Flavour has a mild caramel malt base with little sweetness. On top is a herbal towards spiced mix. Lingering cloves and ginger notes in the flavour. Finish is mildly spiced. Strange, the waitor gave me this and told me this is the most difficult beer, but it holds nothing against some of the Danish heavy spiced X-max beers. Nice though. Jerre (1399), Waregem, Belgium Dec 23, 2007 Bottle, 33cl. @ home (tasted for the second time)
Dark amber color, with a thin lasting head. Aroma caramel and spices. Medium body. Taste malts, toffee,
and much spices.
oh6gdx (6339), Vaasa, Finland Dec 20, 2007 Botled@Kerstbierfestival, Essen. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is alcohol, cloves and some mild alcohol. Flavour is spices (cloves and cinnamon) along with some caramel malts and mild notes of alcohol. thebeertourist (1889), Oslo, Norway Dec 18, 2007 From bottle at 13e Kerstbierfestival, Essen. Cloudy, ruddy brown with a warm white-coloured head. Spices galore-supposedly from 30 different spices-coming out peppery. sweet flavours with spices overdose. A bit flat. Overspiced, yes. Too sweet, probably. But still it works as a Christmas treat.
