COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

Bottle at the BevMo fest. Oh look, it’s a biere de garde. Haven’t had many of these, probably because I don’t like French stuff much. Hazy copper in color with a small off-white head sitting on top and decent lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, slight nuttiness, mild farmhouse funk, spice, and earth. Pretty nice. The flavor is pretty spot-on for the style, not amazing but good, with caramel - not too sweet - nuts, earth, and maybe some slight fruity notes. A little spicy and a little grainy. Medium bodied with pretty active carbonation, which works well in this style. Pretty solid for a BdG overall.

750ml bottle. Pours a medium copper with thick, overflowing foam that recedes quickly to sticky off white lacing in the glass. Aroma is toffee malt, mild roast with some sweet and bitter notes there too. Taste is succulent with layered malt, honey, raisins, yeast. Buttery medium thick mouthfeel. Finish is decent, slightly warm with alcohol burn but not overly boozy.

Bottle at Monks Kettle. Pours dark amber with a thick foamy beige head and a sour fruit aroma. There is a subtly sour toffee flavor with a sticky bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours murky brown with no head at all.Aroma is moderate sweet caramel and toffee, cappucino and some sour notes. Taste is swett sugary mixed with some strange spicy notes. This taste really like it’s off. Homebrewer gone wrong- definately

Peculier Pub, NY NY ($8): Pours a hazy reddish color with an off-white head; sediment is present (apparently that is what Biere de Lie means). Nose is caramel, fruity, woody, and so much more. In other words, a complex and nice aroma. Taste is quite good. The alcohol is covered up very well. Brown sugar and fruitiness is present in the flavor, along with a solid malt backbone. Dry finish it seems.Interesting and quite good.

330 ml bottle. Rated @ 12.12.2009.
Pours a cloudy orange colour with a yellowish head and good retention. Massive sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Pleasant aroma of citrus and caramel malts. Flavour of sweet dried fruits and caramel malts. Medium bodied, decent carbonation and a warming fruity finish. Overall a nice brew.
