COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel and light fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of light carmel and light fruittiness with a crisp lightly fruity finish. Nothing special here, definitly not worth the $10!

750mL bottle. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a big off-white head. Aroma is fairly weak, some caramel malt with an undercurrent of sweet, slightly tart fruit. Flavor is malty, with yeast, some sweet fruit and a touch of herbal hops. Rather bitter, with a malty, bitter grapefruit peel finish.

Bottle shared by brainlair. Dark orange-red pour. Clear with a huge, fluffy light tan head. Dusty and earthy yeast aroma. Sweet fruit, maybe cherry. Flavor is sweet at first. Earthy yeast takes over. Notes of honey, maple, apple, and a hint of buttered popcorn. Bitter finish with light alcohol.

Gusher. Pours dark amber, approaching copper with a large off-white head leaving nice lacing. Nose shows a fair amount of caramel and butterscotch followed by some oxidised port notes with soft grassy hops and spicy alcohol showing later. Very enticing. Flavours include similar malty notes before being overtaken by a plain, flat, chalky character, merging into a somewhat caustic finish dried out the by the high alcohol. Carbonation is too high, only further deteriorating that dry finish.

First of eight brews a friend brought back from Europe. The pour results in a big fluffy-foam tanned head. The retention is very long and the colour is orange-amber. Lacing is uneven, but present. The aroma is mostly fruity with strong hop. Starts with a sweet taste and finishes with a hoppy bitterness. The aftertaste left is of red apples. Slight tart mouthfeel. Definitely worth a try... if you can put your hand on it.

Rich, beautiful chestnut brown with a perfect and log lasting foam in a complimentary beige. To the nose it is rich and nutty with hints of fruit and a lurking resinous headiness. Rich and sticky toffee in the mouth with tingles of hop which leave a dry finish. Probably the best French beer I’ve had.

The color of this beer is that of dark brown with hints of a light orange color towards the outter rim. This beer has a sweet piney like flavor that attacks the nose. The taste is that of spicy malts coupled with a sweet earthy finish.

11.2-oz bottle Phillipes, Lafayette, LA - Aroma: sweet, earthy, musty (no cork), fruity, spicy; Appearance: clear, reddish-amber color with a fluffy off-white head, lots of laces; Flavor: caramel sweetness, salty, bitter, smokey, dried fruit, cheery, peppery; Mouthfeel: medium to full bodied, lively carbonation, bitter-dry finish; Overall: a wonderful farmhouse beer with a malty backbone balanced with estery and phenol fermentation complexity with a refreshingly smokey-dry finish.
