21/10/2009. 33cl bottle courtesy of TheGrandmaster. Gorgeous deep rose gold, just off-brilliat, with a huge cream airy head. Pretty clean... Caramel and subtle stewed fruits, with a surprisingly warm alcohol note. Tidier in the mouth, where it seems like a bock fermented with a subtle ale yeast... slips down way too easily. Pretty nice but I can’ figure out if it’s a bus stop beer for those classy French or a beer worthy of its literary association... I like anyway, as confusing as it is.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Evocatus (72) - USA - AUG 4, 2009
Takes multiple pours to get it all into the glass. Once finished, it has a nice deep amber color with a thick beige head that lasts for a good amount of time. Smells a little bit fruity, like apples; however, the scent isn’t too strong. Taste is a mix of bitter hops and fruit. It goes down pretty smoothly with a slight tingle on the tongue when it first touches the mouth. Overall a good beer from France which is somewhat surprising for a country mostly known for wine, champagne, and cognac.
