3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - MAY 7, 2008
Now that it is past cinco de mayo I can feel free to rate this French beer. 330ml bottle from Discount Liquors, Milwaukee. Hazy red-brown with medium creamy, long lasting, tan head. Aroma is fruity, nutty, brown sugar, yeasty, a mixture between dark and red fruit, very nice. Red fruit and nutty, brown sugar upfront with yeast and alc in the back but basically a very malt forward beer. Medium and very creamy body. This is a very nice beer all around, my only complaint is that in the flavor the alc takes away from making the flavor a completely full flavored, malt accentuated, well balanced masterpiece.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6215) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 3, 2008
330ml bottle pours orange amber. Mild spiced bread in the nose, some spoiled red apples and bartlet pears. Similar flavor, apples, pears, wheat, mild spiced bread crust, overall quite nice, but nothing special. Effervescent and frothy.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 gueuzeisgod (113) - Graham, North Carolina, USA - APR 13, 2008
11.2 oz bottle, poured gently so only a thin head developed, light amber color, smells like aged fenceposts, sweet malt, biscuity, some mild earthy hops. taste is malty, some nice yeast character, mild hop balance. Finishes bitter, lingers a bit. Some alcohol in the nostrils. Nice beer, evidently a Biere de Garde, although the bottle says French Red Ale and the commercial description is of a strong amber- I would call it an amber- Decent enough, but for the money there are better ones out there.

I had higher hopes for this. Amber pouur with an off white head. Aromas of spices and dark fruits. The taste is much the same with a hint of molasses.

Bottle, Moderate malts, some darker fruits, no hops, nice fluffy tan head, alcohol. Spicy yeast flavors, nice dry finish, not a quaffer but nice and enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ElJefe (553) - Rochester, New York, USA - APR 8, 2008
Chestnut brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of over-ripe fruit, toffee, ginger. Sweet flavor - caramel, plum, bitter and floral hops. Quite a big dose of alcohol in the flavor as well. Full bodied, smooth carbonation.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 greedycheater (80) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 5, 2008
Beautiful amber pour. White, sustaining head. Toasty, rye bread aroma. Balanced, with very subtle hints of raspberry. A long, sweet malty finish. Very good - better than a 78 percentile rating. Now I just need a cellar to age it and see how complex those live yeast can make it over time!
